Any recommendations for a contacts app? Something simple, just for
names, phone numbers, email, and birthday.

You can create a CardDAV server with Baikal

[https://radicale.org/v3.html](https://radicale.org/v3.html)  and use
Thunderbird as a PC/Linux Client or DAVx5 on Android. If you are

I don't know that it's that 'simple' but Ive been looking at setting
up [Monica](https://github.com/monicahq/monica) for similar purposes.

If you have macOS / iOS devices, their native apps all support CardDAV
& CalDAV.
