Self hosted data agragator and plotter reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- YourFavouriteHam · 2023-11-01 14:15 Looking for something that I'm sure must exist but can't seem to get my google foo to return. I work in a lab where we have some equipment and control computers. We can remote into the computers to check things but thats a bit of a pain so I want to create and external web accessible server to show a few key statistics (such as temperature, levels etc...), preferably as a function of time. I have the server sorted but am looking for some software that has a web endpoint I can ping from the control computers every hour or so with say temperature of equipment X that collects it and has a web page I can view plots of data over time. Seems like it must exist but can't find anything and don't have the time at the moment to write it myself right now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dazchad · 2023-11-01 14:28 https://github.com/awesome-foss/awesome-sysadmin#monitoring and https://github.com/awesome-foss/awesome-sysadmin#metrics--metric- collection ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-11-01 14:33 InfluxDB? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- YourFavouriteHam · 2023-11-01 14:56 Amazing, thank you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gioco_chess_al_cess · 2023-11-02 07:15 I am implementing exactly the same for my lab in these days. I Still have to begin the "frontend" part but was considering grafana with CSV plugin for the data log I am producing with a python script. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- YourFavouriteHam · 2023-11-02 08:36 Yea, that does seem the best approach, everything else seems way more complex than I really need for this! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gioco_chess_al_cess · 2023-11-02 13:34 I am tempted to try the prometheus approach: sensor -> python -> prometheus -> grafana. I feel it would be more complicated but more robust.
