self host services reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- raxiel87 · 2023-11-01 11:45 i have a small web agency, and i'd like to self host some services, i already have a server where i host my clients website, a panel (like cpanel) and the new akeeba panopticon for update website. I'm not only a web developer, i'm an IT consultant and tecnician. I'm looking for other services i can self host on that server, i was thinking about a dashboard panel or some services that i can "sell", but i'm out of ideas :D if you have some ideas pls share to me :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-01 12:00 [What next](https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/search?q=what+next&res trict_sr=on&include_over_18=on&sort=relevance&t=all) [What should i host](https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/search?q=what +should+host&restrict_sr=on&include_over_18=on&sort=relevance&t=all) [Get started](https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/search?q=get+started &restrict_sr=on&include_over_18=on&sort=relevance&t=all) [Beginner](https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/search?q=beginner&restr ict_sr=on&include_over_18=on&sort=relevance&t=all) [Bored](https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/search?q=bored&restrict_sr =on&include_over_18=on&sort=relevance&t=all) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- No_Dragonfruit_5882 · 2023-11-01 12:02 If you have to ask, probably hosting for customers / for money is not for you. You need to know how to use a Server, iam sorry but i wouldnt trust anyone apart from In this Sub with my companys Data. Its selfhosting, nothing else. I wouldnt recommend you to host anything more important than plex for family + Friends. Peace out ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-01 12:05 Typically i would agree but i think in this case OP says they already have a webagency and already are hosting websites for clients. Its not the typical "i want to launch a hosting company" thing. From my understanding they already are hosting, but they want to offer more services but have no clue what exactly. > but i wouldnt trust anyone apart from u/thekrautboy In this Sub with my companys Data. Sorry but keep your donkey.mpg to yourself, thanks xD ---------------------------------------------------------------------- No_Dragonfruit_5882 · 2023-11-01 12:08 That was my first guess aswell But the last 4 people that asked me directly slapped all the Software into their Main vps, without network seperation etc, so iam a little bit critical. And no i wont keep the donkey xD. A Fanboy is a fanboy h3he ---------------------------------------------------------------------- raxiel87 · 2023-11-01 12:10 this is not the point of my question.. i'm looking for thoughts of what other services i can host, for my clients, but also for my agency, for example a dashboard with linked services ( like a starpage). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- raxiel87 · 2023-11-01 12:11 thank you i will look :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- No_Dragonfruit_5882 · 2023-11-01 12:12 Well why dont you take a look at the self hosted Services list that we publish on github? Every selfhosted Service from a to z ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ZAFJB · 2023-11-01 15:02 >server where I host my clients website Just don't. Client sites belong on a VPS, in the cloud. The same for any other services that you sell. You simply cannot provide the resiliency, and your ISP will probably hate you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ZAFJB · 2023-11-01 15:07 > thoughts of what other services i can host Never start with a solution. Start with requirements. * Who are your potential clients? * What are their pain points? * How much money are they prepared to spend to alleviate that pain? * What *category* of products would alleviate that pain? * What specific product(s) fit that category best? * Can you compete against already established offering on price, performance and service? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tech2but1 · 2023-11-01 23:50 Crikey.
