Anyone made their own custom selfhosted/docker service? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zestyclose_Car1088 · 2023-10-31 15:42 If so what have you created? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ilikestreet · 2023-10-31 15:48 Postfix - for my own domain email ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dazchad · 2023-10-31 16:10 Not sure I understand. Are you asking if we built our own products, and that we selfhost those products? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zestyclose_Car1088 · 2023-10-31 16:21 Yeah, just wondering what has been created off Broadway ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eXgam3 · 2023-10-31 16:22 I think, he's asking, if anyone dockerised lesser used/known applications for own homelab. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FoxxMD · 2023-10-31 16:51 I've dockerized all the apps I've built myself and use them in my homelab. Here are a few examples. * [multi-scrobbler](https://github.com/FoxxMD/multi-scrobbler) - Enables scrobbles and consolidation of your music listening history * [tautulli-notification-digest](https://github.com/FoxxMD/tautulli- notification-digest) - Consolidates tautulli discord notifications for recently added media into scheduled posts * [szurubooru-ocr](https://github.com/FoxxMD/szurubooru-ocr) - run OCR on [szurubooru](https://github.com/rr-/szurubooru) posts to add tags and notes automatically * [docker-avocent](https://github.com/FoxxMD/docker-avocent) - modified existing image so I can connect to OOB Avocent MergePoint EMS virtual KVM on my motherboard in order to manage one of my homelab servers ---------------------------------------------------------------------- crysisnotaverted · 2023-10-31 16:54 Neat, I might have to check out multi-scrobbler. Should help with me archiving music I like so I'm not fully reliant on streaming services. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Exerra · 2023-10-31 17:54 Oh hey, didn’t expect to see you here! What ultimately happened with the Apple Music integration? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FoxxMD · 2023-10-31 18:42 Hi! Thanks for your work on [node-musickit- api](https://musickit.js.org), it was really the only thing that enabled me to make an attempt at apple music in the first place. I gave up on apple music integration. I no longer have an apple account, don't know anyone who uses apple music, and don't have access to a developer account so testing anything would have been impossible. Even if I had got something to work it was extremely unfriendly to end users. Having to pay $100/yr just to access your own music history is bonkers. And all of the auth requirements would have alienated all users except those comfortable enough to deal with private keys, etc... So there is no direct way to monitor apply music history from their platform but there are still [ways to get history into MS or Maloja](https://github.com/FoxxMD/multi- scrobbler/issues/9#issuecomment-1462675363) by using existing apps that scrobble to LFM/Listenbrainz => MS pulls from those. I'm also planning to add LFM/Listenbrainz "endpoints" to MS so apps/players that allow specifying base url can scrobble directly to MS as a Source. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jordanroher · 2023-10-31 18:48 I made a homepage for my self-hosted service. https://hub.docker.com/r/jordanroher/starbase-80 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CrispyBegs · 2023-10-31 19:04 >multi-scrobbler - Enables scrobbling and consolidation of your music listening history oh very cool, thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Minituff · 2023-10-31 19:42 I docker-ized my script that backs up my Docker volumes ([link](https://github.com/Minituff/nautical-backup)). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Minituff · 2023-10-31 19:42 Very cool!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PassiveLemon · 2023-10-31 22:40 I’ve dockerized OnTheSpot, Zoraxy, tModLoader, and Blobsaver. They are the Dockerhub account the same as my Reddit username ---------------------------------------------------------------------- shalak001 · 2023-11-01 00:02 Several of mine: - custom python services, one fetches data from nextcloud calendar and sends a daily notify on signal in very human-friendly way, - another one builds a wifi-clients list based on several sources in my mikrotik devices - wrapper for a cheap chinese camera that doesn't even talk in proper HTTP (it has typos in headers, sic!) - it proxies the traffic and fixes the headers so e.g. Home Assistant can see it - customized postfix relay, because the HP iLO doesn't support SMPT authentication - static HTTP server, so I can share files without any authentication, e.g. when I host a LAN party - couple of game servers point their docker logging into a syslog-ng service, so I can parse logs and call a discord webhook when e.g. someone has joined the game ---------------------------------------------------------------------- root_switch · 2023-11-01 03:30 I’ve been dockerizing a lot more apps lately simply for security reasons. I can’t fully trust a docker image if I haven’t built it from source. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Minituff · 2023-11-01 04:10 What benefits do their base images have? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sysLee · 2023-11-01 04:55 I have created and maintain [Movary](https://github.com/leepeuker/movary), a open source web app to serve as a central hub to track, rate and explore your movie watch history. LSIO images use an internal user, `abc`, with startup scripts that [map environmental variables PUID and PGID](https://docs.linuxserver.io/general/understanding-puid-and- pgid/) to the id/group for this user. All services that run in the container then run under `abc`. This enables you to continue using docker-as-root but have files touched by LSIO docker containers owned by the same non-root host user you normally use and avoid file permission issues entirely. **Powerful Init using s6-overlay** All LSIO images use [s6-overlay](https://github.com/just- containers/s6-overlay) for container init (entrypoint) which enables [running/starting multiple services and one-off scripts (on startup).](https://github.com/just-containers/s6-overlay#the-docker- way) LSIO base images have this already configured and its easy to hook into their existing init dependencies or use your own by simply copying directories into /`root/etc/s6-overlay` during build time. s6 has a bunch of other benefits like [proper PID support, support to restart services on exit or based on exit code, and log rotation](https://github.com/just-containers/s6-overlay#features). **End-user Extensibility** As another hook into the startup process LSIO makes it easy for users of your image to execute their own [private scripts/services](https://docs.linuxserver.io/general/container- customization/). **Wide Variety of Standardized Base OS** All of the above features are standardized across all of their base images so you get your choice of base OS to work in: alpine, fedora, ubuntu, arch, and debian. **VNC Base Image** The above base images also have [KasmVNC](https://www.kasmweb.com/kasmvnc) [variants](https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-baseimage-kasmvnc) so you can run a full desktop environment for graphical applications. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zestyclose_Car1088 · 2023-11-01 15:36 Nice! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zestyclose_Car1088 · 2023-11-01 15:36 Handy! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zestyclose_Car1088 · 2023-11-01 15:37 I can understand that ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zestyclose_Car1088 · 2023-11-01 15:37 Will check them out! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zestyclose_Car1088 · 2023-11-01 15:38 Substantial list there! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- root_switch · 2023-11-01 18:33 The verified ones are ok but many many things I want arnt built into verified images unfortunately. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- modem7junior · 2023-11-02 02:50 I've got quite a few I manage for the community: https://github.com/modem7
