Introducing Slaanesh - the self-hosted game tracker (v0.1-beta) reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- h-quer · 2023-10-30 13:24 **What is it?** Slaanesh is a self-hosted video game tracker. It enables you to add games, set their status (e.g. completed, wishlist, backlog) and save your playthroughs and comments. It's a catalog for your game collection. Think goodreads or Trakt for games. Currently it's in a very early stage - but fully usable and hopefully reasonably stable. More details on the github page: https://github.com/h-quer/Slaanesh The github also has some screenshots so you can get a feeling for it. **Setup and maintenance** For now, the installation involves cloning the repo and running a docker build with the Dockerfile and compose-file provided, but I'll work on getting a convenient docker image up and ready as soon as I figure out how. This is my very first open source project, I plan to use this game tracker myself for years to come, so I also plan to regularly maintain it long-term. Help is of course always appreciated, for example in form of bug reports or even PRs. **Why build a game tracker?** There are self-hosted trackers, for example https://github.com/IgnisDa/ryot or https://github.com/bonukai/MediaTracker. They are, however, multi- purpose trackers and game tracking is at best an afterthought. There is a lot of functionality that only makes sense in the context of a game tracker, which I hope include (and partially already have included) in Slaanesh. **I want to use it!** Great! The github page has instructions on how to set it up. There is also a wiki on the github page with some additional info, which should eventually develop into a proper documentation. Except bugs - I'm (kind of ...) looking forward to many bug reports. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rutrapio · 2023-10-30 14:10 No real input, but I love the name. Very...slaneeshy ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Future-Anxious · 2023-10-31 15:22 https://playnite.link/ - is similar and can export all data from most providers: steam, egs, gogs, etc. Not sure that it has server part, but this should be easy to implement. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- darkcyde_ · 2023-10-31 16:14 Bravo on the name. lol. Playnite is good enough for me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- h-quer · 2023-10-31 19:53 That one has a completely different use case: It "just" links to game stores. It doesn't allow for arbitrary wishlists, backlogs etc. It's more of a catalog of games you own in the various stores, not a proper tracker of games and playthroughs. It's not a self-hosted solution, it's a local app. All in all, entirely different.
