Simple server monitoring reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- speedypaddy · 2023-10-30 13:20 I need some advice on monitoring. I need a simple tool that will monitor servers (Linux) - just basic stuff disk, cpu usage, ram. Then i need to set alerts on in and send them trough ntfy or telegram. What the best (and easiest) route to go nowadays? Promethues + Graffana? I had a look in Zabbix and looks to heavy for my usage. I would be glad for recommendations. I used to use Icinga2 and Nagios, but I would like to recommend a newer solution. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Twigglett_ · 2023-10-30 13:37 Have a look at checkmk. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrmclabber · 2023-10-30 13:48 Netdata will likely be the easiest. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- neulon · 2023-10-30 15:42 Check MK should do the job however is a bit of a pain Deploy on K8s ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Plain-Tangerine3715 · 2023-10-30 15:48 I setup just a simple script on the hosts to pull the data I wanted and send it to an influxdb endpoint. influxdb serves both as a db and as a gui that includes monitoring dashboards. I haven't used the alerting myself but I see it has those capabilities. It was dead simple to setup and get working. I wanted something lightweight on the client side, and easy to run on the server side, this fit that bill. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CelebrationDizzy1541 · 2023-10-30 19:24 I use Glances… https://nicolargo.github.io/glances/ … together with Home Assistant. Also has a Rest API. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-10-30 20:09 There's nothing simple or easy about Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus or Grafana. For simple, I'd suggest: https://mmonit.com/monit/ (been around forever, "just works") https://github.com/flo-at/minmon (new, looks good, haven't used) If you want something that can also do network monitoring, you could use Uptime-kuma with something like wirestat. https://github.com/ssddanbrown/wirestat ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hYjbyDBkdhIE8D4KDL2I · 2023-10-31 20:06 Xymon. It's simple, oldschool, proven. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- creativve18 · 2023-11-06 03:57 You can look into OpManager by ManageEngine. The solution offers commendable server monitoring.
