Does this exist? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 404_usernot_found · 2023-10-30 12:04 Hey everyone, long time lurker here. I was wondering if there was a self hosted option for building/storing Cisco device configuration files specifically. Ideally I would love a web interface but that isn't required. I know Cisco has a zero-touch option for certain switches and routers but I wanted something where I was able to actually build the configuration files myself and then manually load them to the devices when I need to turn them up. I am also aware that there are some websites you can go to and plug in the info for your devices and they will build the config for you but I don't really like the idea of giving a stranger on the internet the details of my internal network (example: https://www.sharontools.com/tools/config-generator/) If anyone knows of such an application let me know!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- StolidSentinel · 2023-10-30 12:30 I do this with regular ol' python and netmiko. https://pynet.twb- tech.com/blog/netmiko-python-library.html That config generator is so innocuous, I don't see why you're concerned about it. You can always stuff it with fake data that you replace later. Really, once you produce a default/standard config, you're just copy/pasting the particulars anyway. And zero-touch is useless IME. I also just found that I could configure a router or a switch faster than typing things into that site, then copy and pasting..... Easier to just type it into the router. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 404_usernot_found · 2023-10-30 12:38 Awesome thanks I'll give this a try!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tech2but1 · 2023-10-30 14:19 > I also just found that I could configure a router or a switch faster than typing things into that site, then copy and pasting..... Easier to just type it into the router. As OP seems unable to work out how to reply to a comment on reddit I wouldn't hold out much hope for this being the case!
