best simple webcam stream for 2 cameras reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- randomDevGui · 2023-10-30 11:17 Hi! i have 2 (maximum 4) Webcams wich i want to make eaysily accessible via a browser (so you just enter the ip and maybe a port and get the video stream). Do you have a small and lightweight solution? I do not need motion detection or saving of the video frames. Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-30 12:07 Every webcam provides an RTSP stream already and most have a webui with the live stream or do you mean to stream via a website publicliy available on the web? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- randomDevGui · 2023-10-30 12:22 thanks for your input - so i checked VLC and could view it. Thats a nice step because i can locally view it easily! yeah, i mean some "server" wich gets all streams and i can view it remotely. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-30 12:25 Just you or **everyone** aka the public, like a public webcame because there is a huge difference in the setup process. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- randomDevGui · 2023-10-30 12:41 just for me (multiple viewing PCs in a VPN Network, security is not an issue). and for the easy way viewing in a browser would be awesome. i could not get VLC setup for streaming and recieving fast. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OldSkoolDj52 · 2023-10-30 12:48 [This guy has a good solution](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-EdUHNK9UI) for anyone wanting to host their own RTMP server. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- randomDevGui · 2023-10-30 12:55 seems like he is streaming the video to a central server, i want the video to stay "locally" and i just connect to that stream from whatever device i have. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jogai-san · 2023-10-30 13:47 https://github.com/AlexxIT/go2rtc ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GenerlAce · 2023-10-30 15:09 I’ve used Restreamer for this. Basically self host it on my local PC, and added my cameras RTSP stream into it. Can add multiple cameras and switch between them. There may be better options. But this is how I monitored my 3D Printers. And used WireGuard to vpn in locally so it stayed on my network only. https://github.com/datarhei/restreamer ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GenerlAce · 2023-10-30 15:11 That’s a bunch of documentation. I love it. Not OP, but gunna check it out. I’ve been using Restreamer as a basic camera feed for me. But this + home assistant addon seem promising. Nice find thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OldSkoolDj52 · 2023-10-30 20:17 No, he's running the server in his home. I've done this and it works quite well.
