Tailscale vs YouTube TV reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jcjohnson19 · 2023-10-30 02:14 I know there has been conversations about using Tailscale to crack the Netflix lockdown. Has anyone had the same success with YouTube TV? I assume the VPN should work the same but I wonder if Google has found a workaround. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wsamh · 2023-10-30 05:30 Tailscale is only to connect to devices in your network without opening ports. It's not a substitute VPN like nord or private Internet access. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hyperblu7 · 2023-10-30 07:07 While I haven't tried it yet, my plan was to assign Netflix my NordVPN dedicated IP and share that connection via nordlynx (wireguard). The only issue you may run into is devices that don't support wireguard so you can use the nordlynx connection sharing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Greedy-Mirror-944 · 2023-10-30 10:58 That's what OP is asking. Certain services restrict where you can login from, to clamp down on credential sharing. Some people setup a VPN into their local network, then connect to the service, so all the logins look like they're from the same place. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2023-10-30 15:38 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SammyDavidJuniorJr · 2023-10-30 16:05 >Tailscale is only to connect to devices in your network without opening ports That's one of the uses of Tailscale. Among other things, you can set up any of your machines as an "exit node" (https://tailscale.com/kb/1103/exit-nodes/) and route traffic through that node. So if you have an exit node on your home network and go across the world. You can use tailscale to make all your traffic look like it's coming from your hose.
