Home cameras - viewing/controlling software options reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- trishia42 · 2023-10-28 18:00 Not sure if right place to ask - couldn't really figure out which subreddit might be most useful, but thought I'd give it a try here. I have four Tapo (RTSP) cameras that I currently have setup through AgentDVR on a Windows PC upstairs. Then when I am at work, I use VNC software with TailScale to connect to that PC and view the camera interface. I'm not a huge fan of AgentDVR; the UI/interface is not the greatest, it's often not behaving the way one would expect and often has some delays and stuttering. I don't need anything fancy like motion detection or blah blah blah - this is really only to view the cameras remotely when I am not at home. Apart from viewing, I also need the PTZ control of the cameras. Any other (simpler/lighter, still Windows) software I should be looking at? I'm not necessarily opposed to paying a bit for something, as long as it's good. I tried Blue Iris but found it had similar issues. Thank you in advance! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kotarix · 2023-10-28 20:21 What issues did you have with blue iris? It's by far the best most feature filled nvr software ---------------------------------------------------------------------- majordingdong · 2023-10-28 22:34 I’m not a 100% sure about what you need, but do you know about Home Assistant? HAOS is for Linux, but the Docker could be run on Windows I guess. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- violet-crayola · 2023-10-29 00:37 I use xeoma ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kjames2001 · 2023-10-29 04:24 Frigate ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tech2but1 · 2023-10-29 15:15 Buy a cheap NVR. Much easier than pissing about with servers and Windows. Most will have a partner app and simple cloud connectivity. Much easier all round. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- trishia42 · 2023-10-29 16:17 Unfortunately, not Windows. I am trying to avoid running something in a container as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hyperblu7 · 2023-10-30 07:12 I'd just get a cheap synology nas... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- trishia42 · 2023-10-31 13:19 I don't want to store data. I just want a simple solution to bottle and control RTSP cameras. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hyperblu7 · 2023-10-31 13:32 So remote streams?
