filesharing with filerun reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AntiSkillYT · 2023-10-27 15:11 Hey all! I've been looking for a selfhosted file sharing solution. I tested a few and I liked the live demo of filerun the best, now I wanted to start hosting it myself, but it seems I need to create an account to download the web server zip? I find that pretty weird, why would I need an account on their website? I'd ask this in their forum, but I also need an account to view that, so I figured I'll ask here instead. Does anyone have experience with filerun and/or alternatives for file sharing? Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LordPickels · 2023-10-27 15:22 FileRun can be self hosted, but it is no longer free. You'll need to create an account because you'll have to purchase an enterprise license to use it. Licenses start at £99 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ovizii · 2023-10-27 15:31 It's not a business licence. It is: a special offer for personal usage and includes a Lifetime of free software updates for non-commercial usage only. (Non-commercial/Family use, 5 user accounts) Personally I think its well worth it, although I am still on a grandfathered free licence, but I am planning to buy it soon. I think it's a really essential piece of software I am self-hosting, and I have already been using the free version for about 3 years or so. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LordPickels · 2023-10-27 15:44 You're correct, my bad. Forgot there's a difference between the 5 user enterprise and the 5 user personal license. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HiDefDog · 2023-10-27 17:23 I've had really good luck with [File Browser](https://github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser). For a simple web GUI file browser, it works really well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Professional-Swim-69 · 2023-10-27 19:13 Looks interesting but would like the option to share with expiration and a password ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Latter_Lavishness982 · 2023-10-28 04:03 I have been using filerun for years and would not be without it. It's been flawless, I use it for hosting customer files. And now you have to pay it doesn't change my mind. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ovizii · 2023-10-29 19:37 As far as I know, both are an option. Test the demo and check it out: https://filerun.com/demo ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Professional-Swim-69 · 2023-10-31 13:44 thank you, it does indeed, when I tested from the phone browser didn't see the advanced option but on desktop it is present
