AWSTATS : awstats.pl not using specified conf file. reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RuralTechFarmer · 2023-10-27 14:30 Struggling with AWSTATS. I am attempting to run from the linux command line and I seem to be in countering two issues. 1. [awstats.pl](https://awstats.pl) is not using the specified configuration file. 2. [awstats.pl](https://awstats.pl) hangs and does not produce any errors that I can locate. For example when I run the following command: /usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -config=awstats.somewebsite.com.conf -update or /usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -config=somewebsite -update This is the results: Create/Update database for config "/etc/awstats/awstats.conf" by AWStats version 7.8 (build 20200416) From data in log file "/some/path/to/webserver/apache2/access.log"... Phase 1 : First bypass old records, searching new record... Searching new records from beginning of log file... Phase 2 : Now process new records (Flush history on disk after 20000 hosts)... Reverse DNS lookup for ::1 not available without ipv6 plugin enabled. It appears not to be using the virtual website awstats config **awstats.somewebsite.com.conf** but rather **awstats.conf** for the default website. How do I get it to use the correct awstats config file when I run awstats.pl ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-27 14:39 > D) awstats_configure.pl will ask you for a name for the configuration profile file. Enter an appropriate name such as that of your web server or the virtual domain to be analyzed, i.e. mysite. > awstats_configure.pl will create a new file called awstats.mysite.conf by copying the template file awstats.model.conf. The new file location is: > - For Linux/BSD/Unix users: /etc/awstats. > - For macOS, Windows and other operating systems: the same directory as awstats.pl (cgi-bin). [...] > perl awstats.pl -config=mysite -update > where mysite must be substituted with the domain/virtual host name you selected earlier during AWStats configuration. > AWStats will read the configuration file awstats.mysite.conf (or if not found, awstats.conf) and create/update its database with all summary information issued from analyzed log file. https://awstats.sourceforge.io/docs/awstats_setup.html
