Tunneling service for multiple UDP Ports for L4D2? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- StefanGamingCJ · 2023-10-25 22:41 Hi everyone! I want to port forward my Left 4 Dead Server. I did that stuff before, but my new ISP just doesn't port forward stuff properly. I tried to forward 5 different things, and only 2 worked, Minecraft and SSH (partially) Anyway, since I couldn't port forward, I looked into the alternatives. I saw Ngrok, which I have used before, but they don't offer any UDP tunnels as far as I know, and I don't know any good alternatives. I need to forward the following ports according to the Steam docs: * TCP: 27015, 27036 * UDP: 27015, 27031-27036 So, my question is, do you have any services that can help me port forward/create a tunnel for both TCP and UDP and more of them? They must be free since I don't have any money, and the server won't be public, I'll just turn it on every once in a while when my friends want to play on it. I'll take any other suggestions on how to solve this issue even if it doesn't help with port forwarding specifically. Thanks in advance! (i might be using a wrong flair for this, if i am please lmk) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Disastrous-Company-3 · 2023-10-25 23:45 You could take a look at zerotier or tailscale for this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PhilipLGriffiths88 · 2023-10-26 07:56 exactly, any tunneling solution will work - see overlay network section: https://github.com/anderspitman/awesome-tunneling ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Adam_Meshnet · 2023-10-26 08:53 You can give Meshnet a try, it doesn't require port-forwarding https://meshnet.nordvpn.com/how-to/gaming. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- StefanGamingCJ · 2023-10-26 11:28 I settled for zerotier, thank you so much. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- StefanGamingCJ · 2023-10-26 11:28 Thanks for the suggestion, will try it ---------------------------------------------------------------------- StefanGamingCJ · 2023-10-26 11:29 Didn't know there was an entire repo just for that. Thanks :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PhilipLGriffiths88 · 2023-10-26 12:45 yw. fwiw, I work on the project mentioned called OpenZiti and [zrok.io](https://zrok.io). This may be relevant - https://blog.openziti.io/set-up-a-secure-multiplayer-minecraft-server ---------------------------------------------------------------------- StefanGamingCJ · 2023-10-26 14:58 This looks like something I could actually use. I might give it a try. Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mahirshah0710 · 2023-10-26 16:09 Can I host on my own domain using zrok.io ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PhilipLGriffiths88 · 2023-10-26 16:18 If you self-host zrok then yes, you can pick your own domain & URL. If you use free [zrok.io](https://zrok.io) SaaS then you get to name part of it, but it is partially fixed to the SaaS service. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mahirshah0710 · 2023-10-27 02:32 How do I self host, can you please help me or send me link of any guide ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mahirshah0710 · 2023-10-27 02:51 And also does it require port forwarding ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PhilipLGriffiths88 · 2023-10-27 08:09 If you are self-hosting then the front end does need to be publicly available. Rather than hosting at home (and needing port forwarding), I would recommend public cloud - e.g., the completely free tier in Oracle or pick your preference. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mahirshah0710 · 2023-10-27 08:12 I have one on Linode can you send me steps to do it?? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PhilipLGriffiths88 · 2023-10-27 08:13 [https://zrok-git-doc-updates-openziti.vercel.app/docs/guides/v0.3\_se lf\_hosting\_guide](https://zrok-git-doc-updates- openziti.vercel.app/docs/guides/v0.3_self_hosting_guide) ... it does not cover the setting up the cloud bit for hosting the front end... as you can choose to put it anywhere... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2023-10-27 09:16 [removed]
