Can't manage to run Odoo on Ubuntu 22.04 server. reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sypie1 · 2023-10-25 20:49 First of all: I need tutorials to accomplish things like installing webservices like Odoo. I'm not a Linux guru. I'm running Ubuntu Server 22.04 as a VM under UTM on my M2 Mac. Runs smooth. Problem is that I ran through at least 3 different tutorials to get Odoo 16 running, everytime on a new Ubuntu install, but they all keep failing at some point. Tutorials I used: [1](https://www.cybrosys.com/blog/how-to-install-odoo-16-on- ubuntu-22-04-lts-server), [2](https://www.howtoforge.com/how-to- install-odoo-16-on-ubuntu-22-04/), [3](https://www.rosehosting.com/blog/how-to-install-odoo-16-on- ubuntu-22-04/) Anyone knows how to help me out here? I'm willing to try another tutorial but getting tired of not getting it done. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-25 22:15 > but they all keep failing at some point. Care to share any details? If you already tried 3 tutorials and you get stuck with those, whats the point of linking you more tutorials? Clearly there is a issue somewhere with what youre doing so you should focus on figuring that out and fixing that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sypie1 · 2023-10-26 06:26 Maybe someone has had success with an online tutorial and could point me to this tutorial. The reason I'm not using Docker is actually because I never dived into it. Once I had it running for Snipe-IT, but little did I understood of what I was doing. With a VM I can follow what's going on in the commands. I only can't figure out why it's not working because of the lack of knowledge. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-26 07:09 > Maybe someone has had success with an online tutorial and could point me to this tutorial. I am willing to bet that all 3 of those tutorials you linked yourself are working. I dont see any reason to link you more, and if you insist on trying more, they are easy to find with a Google search. The problem is not with the tutorials. I asked you about details, you cant provide them. There is nothing i can do for you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sypie1 · 2023-10-26 08:53 Thank you for your reply. I understand this is not a tech support for individual apps or services. As you mentioned Docker, wich I used before but didn't quite onderstand, I dived into it again. Took me some time te realize how things are working with it. In a few hours I got Odoo up and running. Thanks again for pointing Docker out. Now I have to find more Docker containers just to keep on going with Docker and Portainer, as I like to push buttons. My setup: Proxmox with a Turnkey Core container. In this container there is Docker with it's own containers like Odoo and Postgresql. Guess there's an easier way but this works for now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- junialter · 2023-10-26 19:15 Generally speaking using containers is really the easiest way. Just install podman/docker and use the docker-compose example. https://hub.docker.com/\_/odoo/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sypie1 · 2023-10-26 19:34 Thanks. It’s already up and running. Even played around with some other Docker things. Guess I’m more into Docker now then I was before. At least I start to understand things now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- pumpkinsuu · 2023-10-27 09:16 3 of your tutorials are for development which require you to read and do exactly libraries requirements by odoo on their site. If you’re not like to DIY stuffs just use docker or go to their site do a package installation which will config and do everything for you. https://www.odoo.com/documentation/16.0/administration/install/package s.html
