Any music streaming server that handles classical music and composer tags? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CptanPanic · 2023-10-23 17:07 I have tried navidrone, but it doesn't let you view by composers. Is there any other ones that do? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dweymouth · 2023-10-23 17:29 I don't think so right now, or maybe Plex does(?), but very soon some Subsonic-compatible servers will start to support it since the [OpenSubsonic](https://opensubsonic.netlify.app) project has just standardized a Subsonic API extension to report composers (and other new metadata). Edit: The system of classical music tagging that works for me, with broad compatibility with different software, is to - in addition to the Composer tag, always put the composer's last name at least in the album title, like "Bach: The Well-Tempered Klavier" so that it is searchable by software that doesn't read the Composer tag. Then the performer goes in the Artist and Album Artist tags. The other thing I'll do for contemporary music is if the composer's name is more prominently featured on the album art than the performer, tag Album Artist = composer, and Artist = performer, and then I can leave the composer's name out of the title. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- itmfr · 2023-10-24 04:58 LMS (https://github.com/epoupon/lms) handles composers. You can search for composers and filter artists by composer. If you select a composer, you will see the albums they have composed ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CptanPanic · 2023-10-24 10:41 Thanks, looks nice.
