Can I use PhotoPrism and Synology Photos with the same folders? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gunzaj · 2023-10-22 20:32 On a Synology NAS, can I set up Synology Photos and PhotoPrism to use the same folder of photos? The reason I want to do this is for properly testing both applications before I set them up on all the devices for the rest of my family. I am a complete noob, therefore I have no idea if this is possible or what I would have to do. I managed to set both of them up already, but after doing research, still no idea what I would have to do for both apps to use the same folder for my pictures. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- isleepbad · 2023-10-22 22:15 I don't see why not? I can't remember much about photo prism. But for Synology photos you can create a folder, upload photos to it and point Synology photos to that folder. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HonestChemistry2209 · 2023-10-23 10:25 Just mount the synology photos folder in photoprism as the originals folder. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gunzaj · 2023-10-23 18:44 I understand that part. I guess that is my question, how do I do that? I have literally no clue where to even start. Also, what is wrecking my brain about this is, Synology Photos has this automatic folder structure where the photos folder is in the Home folder. I have no idea how that would have to be setup properly with PhotoPrism in order to support this same folder structure amongst all users. Hope that makes sense what I am saying. Like I said, I am a bit confused about this and not sure where to even begin. Tried to look for instructions, but couldn't find anything yet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cyl3el2cleal2 · 2023-10-23 21:06 I just made it work for Synology drive. Firstly you create the user for docker then assign the permission to your photo folder then when you create the project on container manager just set the UID and GID and mount your photo path to originals by using compose file on volume variable. That’s all ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2kMrGsspZPG5ui · 2023-11-18 18:34 yeah I'd be also grateful for a step-by-step instruction setting up the Docker and entering values. Thank you very much in advance
