Audio streaming reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mscreations82 · 2023-10-21 16:15 Hello there. I’m trying to find a good self host option for streaming music. I currently am using Plex and plexamp which works for me with the Plex pass, but family that are sharing my libraries cannot because they do not have a pass. I am looking for something that has iOS and Android apps available. Most of my searches come up with Spotify and the commercially available streaming not self hosted. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-21 16:27 You could have simply search this subreddit, and also look at the awesome-selfhosted list in the sidebar. Navidrom is popular, Jellyfin works too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Conscious-Fault-8800 · 2023-10-21 16:31 Compared to plexamp and all its features (sonic analysis, auto-DJs) , many free oss solutions will feel like a downgrade. But if you just need no frills streaming, i can recommend navidrome + any subsonic-compatible app. Alternatively, jellyfin has come a long way for music. But I have no experience in good ios Apps for music ---------------------------------------------------------------------- android_808 · 2023-10-21 17:24 I was under the impression that they can access it now but just wouldn't get all the features. https://www.plex.tv/blog/free-bird-plexamp-spreads-its-wings-for- every-music-lover/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotinho · 2023-10-21 19:49 O go for Navidrome :) or subsonic compatible streams. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-10-21 21:11 Just installed funkwhale, seems to work well. Very stable and we'll established solution with clients of all OS is mpd or Mopidy/iris https://mopidy.com/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 00--0--00- · 2023-10-21 21:54 I've been running navidrome at home and connect to it via cloudflare tunnels. You can make logins for individual people. There's apps for iOS and Android, although the Android ones are superior IMO. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- emperorralphatine · 2023-10-21 22:47 I still run subsonic. it is still rock solid and a simple solution. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kausar007 · 2023-10-22 00:10 Check out this [repo](https://github.com/basings/selfhosted-music- overview). It has comparison of few clients and servers ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 8layer8 · 2023-10-22 02:05 Once they sign into your Plex server they should be able to use plexamp. There's free version of plexamp now too. As long as they are ok with your music, there's no better player than plexamp.
