Budget Vps? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Either_Audience_1937 · 2023-10-21 10:19 My free tier oracle cloud just got deleted and I lost all my ERPNEXT data Any budget VPS I can use for my ERPNEXT? The biggest problem I run into is IO latency / wait times. If you have a non IO bound app then your going to have a really good experience. If your app relies a ton of disk access (modifying images, massive databases) make sure it is on the local storage as the block storage can be dreadfully slow (5 - 10MB/s) during peak hours. With that logic you wouldn't believe any of the online reviews. you do understand that they have to pay for each VPS to do the test, right? And keeping these VPS running for you to reproduce anytime? sounds unreasonable If you look up further, [expert.de](https://expert.de) has individual test articles for all of the VPS they listed, and their review method looks pretty good. So I have good reason to believe these tests are genuine, not to promote any particular service. I'd say it's much more believable than some guys complain about their service provider on reddit. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- __benjamin__g · 2023-10-22 12:43 Who said they would pay for the test if I want to rerun? If its open source and reproducible I can compare two vps or compare the single results for their results as well. In which case I would pay for the vps.. The contabo overselling is based on simple calculation. But my point is, a test which ran only 1 hour lets say is not a test ---------------------------------------------------------------------- drizzleV · 2023-10-22 13:06 In that case, why don't you write the benchmark script yourself? The method is transparent, and you can find open-source CPU/RAM/storage everywhere. Online reviews are always taken as reference and they are not obligated to prove anything to you i.a.w. you believe what you'd like to. My point is that even if they ran the test for 1 hour (which you can't prove they did), it's much more creditable than some guy online saying that their provider is crap without any proof comparison to others. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- __benjamin__g · 2023-10-22 15:15 Maybe I will.
