To-do list/planner for home reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JustUseDuckTape · 2023-10-21 09:31 I'm looking for a to-do list or planner to help me stay organised at home (my partner and I both have ADHD, so if it's not written down it's not getting done). I recently started using Microsoft Planner at work and really like the interface, so that's the benchmark. I'd probably just go ahead and use that, but there's seemingly no way to get a personal license. I've got a big old list of wants, which I reckon I may as well add a unicorn to because I know it's not all happening, but who knows. Self hosted is obviously on there, although not a firm requirement if there's something good out there. Setup can be fiddly, but it's got to be easy to use as my partner isn't as technical. I want multiple lists/boards, and multiple users with shared and private lists. Auto repeating tasks would be great, ideally with notifications and the option to complete them early. e.g. we might feed the pets at 5 if we're going out for the evening, but wouldn't want a notification until 6. The real unicorn would be home assistant integration to automatically mark tasks done or notify through smart lights. I'd like tasks to have the option for sub tasks, categories, custom fields, and due dates. A decent history would be handy too. So, any thoughts or suggestions on my rambling list of wants? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-21 09:36 https://github.com/Kickball/awesome-selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- revereddesecration · 2023-10-21 09:49 Start with the list posted in thread, then we can talk about individual options and whether they do what you want, or if they don’t, how they might be combined with other softwares ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Boring-Concert-3102 · 2023-10-21 10:00 I like focalboard although only using it about a month [https://www.focalboard.com/](https://www.focalboard.com/) Simple enough setup aswell ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sebasdt · 2023-10-21 11:10 Leantime? Its A project manager and more. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- liltrublmakr56 · 2023-10-21 11:54 Vikunja sounds like it would be worth looking in to. The only things I can think of that it does not do is home assistant integration and I'm pretty sure it does not do custom fields but I could be wrong on that one... The rest I know is there already. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- carlinhush · 2023-10-21 12:36 I just started out with Vikunja. I have tried a lot of different Todo apps over the years but most of the time I just forgot about it and/or decided paying for another year was not worth it With Vikunja I like that I can run it locally in Docker. This is the first app that supports Kanban boards which I want to try out ---------------------------------------------------------------------- human_with_humanity · 2023-10-21 13:42 I tried to use docker compose of it but couldn't make persistent volume for it. Please share urs. Thank you ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fishypants · 2023-10-21 15:51 I keep hoping for something that integrates with home assistant, but most folks still suggest using grocy. Curious what gets posted here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- crump48 · 2023-10-21 16:56 The thing that stopped me moving to Vikunja is that every due date needs to have a time component, you can't make tasks that are due on a given date _at some point that day_. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- XxNerdAtHeartxX · 2023-10-21 18:36 Since you mentioned Home Assistant already, you should check out my post on /r/homeassistant about using Grocy for this :) [Link](https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/zsqrlm/after_4_ hours_of_learning_how_to_write_templates/) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sgtgig · 2023-10-21 19:47 Someone mentioned Vikunja and that is what I use. It marks all your boxes except notifications and home assistant integration, but it has an API you can fiddle with and get it to work, I was able to glue it into Home Assistant with node-red and NTFY for notifications. It is pretty nice when it works, I have an Inovelli switch in our bedroom that just blinks when essential things need to be done. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Electronic_Title_370 · 2023-10-21 19:51 Vikunja Supports webhooks and also has a good api. With node-red or N8N you could easily build a "bridge" between Vikunja and HomeAssistant and also the other way. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CLKRUN · 2023-10-21 20:07 https://vikunja.io/ https://github.com/go-vikunja ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aud3o · 2023-10-21 21:53 I’m in the same boat, tried all suggestions here and eventually ended up with Planka. Least amount of clutter and overreaching functions, just a collection of projects with boards. I can setup boards on my computers, laptops, phone, and then have an always-on tablet so I can always quickly check things during household tasks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ButCaptainThatsMYRum · 2023-10-22 00:45 I have a handful of values in homeassistant called "chores_" and the chore name. HA resets every Saturday morning at 4 am. A tablet in the living room shows our living room setting page, with a tab for chores and my Google gardening calendar. It took a few months but even the wife is using it. Takes some maintenance but not bad, 8/10 would recommend but open to more dynamic options. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Boring-Concert-3102 · 2023-10-22 03:43 Didnt use compose as running as an indvidual VM on a proxmox host I just followed this guide [https://www.focalboard.com/docs/personal- edition/ubuntu/](https://www.focalboard.com/docs/personal- edition/ubuntu/) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- human_with_humanity · 2023-10-22 04:53 Ok. Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- yoganerdYVR · 2023-10-22 06:00 Todo.txt ---------------------------------------------------------------------- airclay · 2023-10-22 15:33 Been using [Planka](https://github.com/plankanban/planka) for about 8/9 months now. Pretty slick interface, easy to use. Not real feature rich as far as integrations and what not.
