Selfhosting The new unifi network application reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- THMMYos · 2023-10-20 18:45 Since the "legacy" unifi controler docker container from linuxServer will be [deprecated](https://info.linuxserver.io/issues/2023-09-06-unifi- controller/) and the new " unifi network application " requires a external MongoDB to operate , i will need to remove my old container and install these plus a mongo db . But i fail to understand how to instal / populate the DB as pere their guide . If someone has done it and is willing to share a guide or tips id be glad. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sk1nT7 · 2023-10-20 18:57 https://github.com/Haxxnet/Compose-Examples/issues/16 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-20 18:58 https://discourse.linuxserver.io/ https://discord.gg/YWrKVTn https://www.linuxserver.io/support ---------------------------------------------------------------------- THMMYos · 2023-10-20 19:00 i have contaved them through the discord and the reply i got was more or less " all the info you need is on the readme and descroption go ahead and do it" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-20 19:01 They are not wrong. https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-unifi-network- application#setting-up-your-external-database ---------------------------------------------------------------------- THMMYos · 2023-10-20 19:05 yes.. but .. as i say on my #1 , i fail to understand how mongoDB works ... and this is Light years away from what i experanced from "linuxServer" before theyir work had detailed setup instruction and even a noob like me could follow and make their containers work this is a first ! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-20 19:29 The instructions are there. If you have trouble following them, maaaaabye you could mention which part confuses you? Saying "i dont understand it" is pointless. In unraid we need to migrate to something. Can you assist me in the variables to pass to it to replace this? https://forums.unraid.net/topic/78060-support-linuxserverio-unifi- controller/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-23 05:23 I use all my containers in production myself for thousands of people, so yes, but I can’t follow your request about variables? My containers have everything described. There are no variables in this container image to set. Which variables are you using? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- candle_in_a_circle · 2023-10-23 12:17 Interested in the community's view to this too. This is what I've been using and it's been flawless. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ThiefClashRoyale · 2023-10-23 15:11 When we create a docker on unraid it asks for specific variables like what IP address we want, what ports and so on - example here: [https://imgur.com/a/rS251hc](https://imgur.com/a/rS251hc) I can test and see if it works. Do you think if this works I can share this with the unraid community? Also would you happen to have a github page or something so if there is a major issue you can be contacted some way? Kind regards P ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ThiefClashRoyale · 2023-10-23 18:47 Hey I tried to message you as I think maybe you missed my reply :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-24 06:33 Yes, as I said that’s the image I use myself for thousands of people, so I’m sure as hell keeping it up to date. As for Unraid, you can simply give it a try with the existing config you have, should be an instant replacement. Just be advised that all my containers don’t run as root but as 1000:1000 so check your file permissions for that. The github repo is on the right side of the docker ui as a link or here: https://github.com/11notes/docker-unifi ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ThiefClashRoyale · 2023-10-24 11:23 Thank you!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- VodoBaas · 2023-12-06 21:26 So I was migrating over to use yours but I did a backup from my current linuxserver instance and went to restore from backup and get "Error restoring backup The backup file you are trying to load is from a newer version of the Network Server and cannot be used" Any idea how I can restore this so I don't have to start from scratch? This is not an issue of the image but on how Unifi works. Always make a backup before you upgrade. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- VodoBaas · 2023-12-07 13:51 I wouldn't consider this an issue with the image is why I didn't raise it on github. I did make a backup, my question was more of when your image was going to be updated to the newer version and I can restore my backup. I'll go to your github though and see if you have any information on newer releases.
