Selfhosted car statistic page reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whiskyfles · 2023-10-19 20:02 Hi! So, I just found out that I can talk to the Renault API to get some interesting stuff about my car. Things like Mileage, autonomy, Fuel quantity, etc. I know for a fact that this is also possible on Skoda and probably other brands as well... What do you guys use to talk to these APIs and create some nice graphs from it? Please let me know :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-19 20:09 You could probably use a tool like n8n to query the API and then send the results somewhere, maybe like Prometheus to store that data. And to visualize it use Grafana. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whiskyfles · 2023-10-19 20:11 Yeah, exactly. I was already thinking about something like Grafana. I'll check out n8n, since I haven't heard of it before. Thank you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-19 20:15 Also take a look at the *awesome-selfhosted* list in the subreddit sidebar, there are a few more tools like n8n you can take a look at. Basically they are like "if this than that" (rip good old ifttt.com) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-19 20:24 Also you might want to try subs that arent exactly hosting/tech/IT focused, but just directed at cars etc, maybe someone already has made some tool to read data from the Renault API. /r/Cars /r/Renault etc... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-10-19 22:29 I've been using N8N for the last couple of weeks at work, and I'm really impressed. It's so much easier to iterate and debug than what I was using before. Though, I think you'd need to know a little JS, or it'd be pretty confusing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lmm7425 · 2023-10-20 15:27 I can't help you, but Popey from the [Linux Matters podcast](https://linuxmatters.sh/10/) recently talked about this with his Mini EV. https://popey.com/blog/2023/09/using-bimmer-connected-with-my-mini/ https://popey.com/blog/2023/08/charting-ev-car-charging/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whiskyfles · 2023-10-22 12:56 Cool! Checking this out!
