Torrent container crashes when downloading large files reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ryiseld · 2023-10-16 17:00 I'm quite stumped, would love some ideas to solve an issue I have. I stopped self-hosting my server in my home and moved it to the cloud. Purchased a 2 CPU 4 RAM ARM shared VM from Hetzner, and set it up. Everything works fine except downloading large torrents (10GB+ approximately). Whenever I add a large torrent, it starts downloading for a couple seconds and then crashes. Doesn't matter which torrent client I use (qBittorrent, Deluge, Transmission). The CPU is not under heavy load at all, there is a bit of free ram (\~200-400MB), and it downloads to a Hetzner Box via a CIFS mount. The rest of the containers all operate normally, so it's not like the whole VM crashes - only that specific container. I can also not stop or remove the container - I have to kill the actual process, or reboot the VM. I also tried upgrading the VM to a beefier one (4 CPU 8 RAM) but it still happens. Any ideas? Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- autisticit · 2023-10-16 20:18 The problem is on the line #871 in the log file you attached. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-10-16 20:42 "docker logs -f " ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ryiseld · 2023-10-17 04:03 Thanks, I’ll check dmesg. As for the container logs, it says nothing (maybe because it’s a linuxserver container) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ryiseld · 2023-10-17 04:04 If the log said anything I would have known what the issue was, the thing is the log literally says nothing (maybe because it’s a linuxserver container) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-10-17 05:19 Usually you get containers to be more talkative, i.e. by adjusting verbosity level in the app config etc.
