Do you use no code platforms? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- johanndettling · 2023-10-16 15:04 Does anyone use self hosted no code platforms out there? What are your experiences? I am thinking about integrating such a platform in my homelab for small projects and applications. Can someone recommend a decent platform that is open source and self hosted? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-16 15:06 Look at the awesome-selfhosted list from the subreddit sidebar. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- johanndettling · 2023-10-16 15:09 I already had a look at some of them but I wanna know what experience the people out there had with them and which one is the most used/best of them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-16 15:10 Those are very broad questions... good luck. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gx1400 · 2023-10-16 15:34 I tried using NodeRed for a while in my Home Assistant setup. While its super versatile, I found it to be unintuitive and a pain to maintain ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 12_nick_12 · 2023-10-16 15:36 I use n8n for an email to SMS bridge with Twilio for a WordPress contact form since one of my customers don't use email so it texts them the info. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fairshot98 · 2023-10-16 15:53 I’ve had a decent experience with running AppWrite in my lab, but that’s just a no code backend appliance and depending on your needs there’s definitely more options out there. Just depends if you want the entire stack to be low/no code or just the backend. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- milkman1101 · 2023-10-16 16:15 I use n8n at home and at work I also use "low code" platforms, I've found though that there is just some functionality that no/low code platforms just cannot provide without a good few hundred lines of code. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gabe_Isko · 2023-10-16 16:27 I've messed around with self hosting appsmith. It's pretty good for quickly prototyping CRUD apps. But that's about it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Craftkorb · 2023-10-16 16:34 I guess ESPHome could be counted as Low-Code/No-Code platform? I use that for every project I can as it makes that part so easy. I'm also thinking about setting up Windmill, it looks really cool. But I don't have a use-case in mind, so that'll have to wait. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheLastFrame · 2023-10-16 17:57 No, I code. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RedBeard343 · 2023-10-16 18:43 I have used BudiBase for multiple projects. Works good and is pretty flexable from what I have needed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gsusgur · 2023-10-16 21:32 Why a pain to maintain? Are you talking about upgrading or what? Once you setup a flow it should just keep running. At least that's my experience. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-10-16 22:32 I use N8N and Airtable at work. We used to use Make.com, and I actually like N8N more, it's much easier to debug and see what's happening as you build the workflow. Airtable is irritating but also amazing. The main advantage of both is that relatively non-technical people can do useful things. So while I'd often rather write code than use N8N, if I use N8N it means other people I work with can fix/improve it. Same with Airtable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SnowyLocksmith · 2023-10-17 14:43 This guy codes ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IllegalD · 2023-10-18 01:02 I use Node Red for a whole bunch of stuff. AI chatbots, a Matrix notification system, and various other automations. It's baller. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LuxInvestor · 2023-10-18 04:08 I just started with N8N. Love your set-up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LuxInvestor · 2023-10-18 04:13 Amen on the Airtable being annoying. I use [getgrist.com](https://getgrist.com). Much more powerful and easy to self-host.
