Anyone using chat GPT to help with setup and errors? Is there an AI that's better suited for this? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- crazytalk151 · 2023-10-16 14:06 I finally got a proxmox server setup instead of having everything on different raspberry pis (Lenovo ThinkCentre m75q tiny gen2 AMD Ryzen + I upgraded the SDD and Ram). Chat Gpt has been super helpful with errors, config files, and just helping me get past where I am stuck. Has anyone found an AI that's better that Chat gpt for this? I would like something I could point to videos, readmes, or repos so that it can help me on specific projects. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-16 14:53 > Chat Gpt has been super helpful with errors, config files, and just helping me get past where I am stuck. If it works for you so far, great. I dont use it and dont recommend it. Current AI is way too confidentely incorrect on so many things, leading to way more work than it would be to just do these things myself. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Pesfreak92 · 2023-10-16 15:42 Depends on the project. Sometimes ChatGPT got it right really fast. But sometimes it took very long and I found an answer by just googling it. So yeah it can be helpful but I wouldn’t rely on it entirely. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- crazytalk151 · 2023-10-16 15:44 agreed its a supplement. I would love to find something I could feed tech docs or read mes to but I have not found anything that lets me do that. I have gotten more projects working once I started using chat gpt when I get stuck. Or just for simple stuff I cannot remember to do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- crazytalk151 · 2023-10-16 15:47 What's with the down votes? It is helping me run more things selfhosted! I really want to find a better solution than chat gpt, but the biggest challenge to running things selfhost is the tech knowledge needed. YouTube videos and stuff are great but when you get stuck it can be really frusting trying to figure out what you are doing wrong. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mindspyk · 2023-10-16 16:11 I don't know if it's better or not, but at some point I'd like to investigate self-hosting Llama 2. Maybe look into that? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ZAFJB · 2023-10-16 16:54 ChatGPT4 is a whole lot better, worth every penny. We use it extensively at work, to help with configuration and systems management, to write scripts, and build complex SQL queries ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ZAFJB · 2023-10-16 16:57 You need to try ChatGPT4. I can get it to write entire working scripts and no more than a few prompts. As a test, my colleague got it to write a fully working GUI calculator app in PowerShell. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ZAFJB · 2023-10-16 16:58 Have look at GPT4all too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- StuckinSuFu · 2023-10-16 17:53 Yep. It's a great tool for powershell ---------------------------------------------------------------------- banshee-howl · 2023-10-16 19:22 ITT people with niche knowledge shitting their pants about becoming obsolete in less than a decade. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BlueEye9234 · 2023-10-16 22:05 No. Github Copilot comes close, but I would give the trophy to GPT4 right now. The selfhosted/leaked models don't come anywhere close after running the mid sized llama model when it was leaked. People saying "it lies to you" are correct, but I imagine they haven't used it much, every programmatic thing I've had it do it knocked out of the park. It's also the ultimate rubber ducky. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- am_kobold · 2023-10-17 07:53 If what you're doing has a lot of examples online? It'll likely lead you the right direction, maybe even directly solve your problem. If you're doing anything more complex, don't expect anything other than correct-sounding but very wrong gibberish. It's not "smart", it has no capacity for facts or truth, and cannot actually solve a problem, it's a word generator. If you use it as such and understand its limitations it can be a valuable tool, but do not depend on it, and do not trust it.
