I was wondering. Does a Web GUI exist that can plugin into an existing imap, smtp, caldav setup for user email and calendar sharing? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Qxt78 · 2023-10-16 13:01 I have working email server and caldav setup. Was wondering if anyone is aware of a single web GUI that can "plugin" into a working email server setup? Rainloop is perfect for email but obviously doesn't have calendar support. I am also aware of sogo, but can't seem to get it to work. So wondering what other options there are in 2023. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- puppetjazz · 2023-10-16 15:13 Not sure what your asking but webmin fits the bill ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FloHallo · 2023-10-16 16:00 You can try to connect in a NextCloud instance. But the Mailclient is not so good. I don't use the web calendar either, but it can connect to other calendars. I currently use the windows Calendar App for showing multiple calendars (nextcloud, exchange, google), but that will be replaced in 2024 :( ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GolemancerVekk · 2023-10-16 16:38 I've been looking for caldav webapps myself. There are extremely few. SoGo and Nextcloud have already been mentioned but they have their own limited scope. InfCloud works and will give you access to calendar and tasks; it's fairly basic but considering it's basically the only option... beggars can't be choosers. There's absolutely nothing (web) that supports caldav notes (VJOURNAL), and only one mobile app (jtx Board). Which is ludicrous because there's still tons of people using caldav/carddav and there's this perfectly good notes solution sitting there but no way to use it. If you're ok with it not being a web app you can look into Calengoo, it has calendar/task/contacts mobile and desktop clients for all OSs (still no notes), but it's paid and you have to buy the client for each OS separately. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Qxt78 · 2023-10-16 16:42 I actually tried next cloud and as you said. Not so good a mail client. I can of course use all of my components individually for example with thunderbird as the client. But a Web Interface (think Gmail) would have been loads better. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Qxt78 · 2023-10-16 16:44 I just Google infcloud. Didn't realise that existed. That is why I posted here. You never know who might know of something. But sad that no one ever tried to make a all in one client that just plugs into any open source email server setup ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cooper-man · 2023-10-16 20:45 It defeats the point in some ways, in terms of privacy, but I'm pretty sure that you could connect a NextCloud mailbox and calendar into your Gmail interface. You'd need to set it up to connect and transfer data but once in, it should do the job. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Qxt78 · 2023-10-16 20:49 Noooo 😅 I don't want to connect to a Gmail service. I have my own. What I was looking for is a Web Interface that can connect to my own services e.g imap, smtp, caldav etc. A unified interface. But so far I only found one or the other. Not a interface with support for all my services. So I used Gmail as an example. I could have said office 365 as well. But people use Gmail far more on a daily basis as an example. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DIYSRE · 2023-10-16 23:15 I understand that this isn't going to answer your question, but maybe ask why you want a web ui over a local app. I've gone through this too and when I thought about it, I realized: * My phone has K9 * My tablet has K9 * My computer has Thunderbird No other devices access my email or calendar, and a web mail client isn't really where I want to go. I originally wanted a web client so that I could access my email from my work computer when I was in the office, however it was too much of a security risk just to avoid picking up my phone. I'll get Nextcloud going for this just to test, but I know that I likely won't use it much. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GolemancerVekk · 2023-10-17 21:01 There have been attempts at all-in-one but unfortunately they always seem to go for the proprietary/lock-in angle, or bring in a ton of baggage, instead of simply supporting plain SMTP/IMAP/CalDAV/CardDAV. TBF those 4 protocols are pretty complex and the prospect of fully supporting all of them sounds pretty daunting. I can see why most email web apps completely forgo DAV and just implement a simple internal contacts support. Should also note that email and DAV are technically speaking distinct technologies. A user may need any combination of email, events, tasks, contacts and notes. Any all-in-one app should be flexible enough to let you pick and choose. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Qxt78 · 2023-10-17 21:08 I might have found a solution. Round cube Webmail with a few plugins. I am busy testing it. I just have to redesign a few things on how my docker containers work. But looks promising
