Dockers monitoring reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Olejka2k · 2023-10-15 19:41 Hi everyone Can you please advise an easy-to-setup docker dashboard service, which will gather and monitor my docker's resources consumption and stats? Would be cool to monitor logs for errors and anomalies. Thanks so much! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-15 19:46 Portainer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-10-15 20:24 Netdata ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Olejka2k · 2023-10-15 20:29 Wow that looks super cool! Will try it out, thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- aps02 · 2023-10-15 21:44 If you want to monitor logs, def look at Dozzle ( https://github.com/amir20/dozzle). It provides real-time log for your docker containers ---------------------------------------------------------------------- esturniolo · 2023-10-15 22:20 [Dozzle](https://dozzle.dev/) An easier way should be illegal. :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-15 22:29 **Grafana** (visualize data) with **cadvisor** (Docker container metrics), **Promtail** (Docker container logs), **Loki** (storing logs) and **Prometheus** (storing metrics) gives you a lot of options for metrics and logs. But its likely overkill and not ideal for a beginner to setup the entire thing. Out of the box, **Netdata** is great with little to no configuration and might already give you everything you want. I dont remember if it did any easy log display tho, but as others have mentioned already, **Dozzle** is great for quick container logs access. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MASLO_Tech_And_Cars · 2023-10-15 23:46 I've started a new self hosted series tutorial, https://youtu.be/GvwFYW8mQwo?si=ZWyimvlw4VhFrdrp Like others said, portainer is a docker that allows administration from a GUI interface and provides some monitoring capabilities. What monitoring are we talking about, Do you want to see just up and down states? Resources being utilised? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Franceesios · 2023-10-16 01:26 Finds an easier way.... **FBI busts into my room** ---------------------------------------------------------------------- maximus459 · 2023-10-16 02:07 Would like to add my 2 cents... There isn't one perfect solution.. For general monitoring and management use Portainer. For a quick glance or start/stop use CTOP (best), glances or lazydocker. They're all terminal based, but I find myself using those the most.. Also, set up something like DockCheck web, or diun or similar to notify you of updates ---------------------------------------------------------------------- No_Pomegranate1844 · 2023-10-16 02:43 sudo dockstation ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Olejka2k · 2023-10-16 12:51 So I've isntalled netdata - it installed without errors, but is not showing any data at all. Graphs are updating, but all of them have "no data" tag on them. I've googled that, but there was nothing specific about that. I've installed the docker from Unraid Apps which had community spotlight. Should I install something else? Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-10-16 12:56 Did you install it directly or via docker? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-10-16 13:12 https://forums.unraid.net/topic/47828-support-data-monkey-netdata/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-10-16 13:27 There also is [greylog.org](https://greylog.org) which seemed really too much for my purpose albeit very enterprise looking. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-16 13:30 Tried it a while ago and didnt like it much, felt very bloated and sluggish, also iirc it depends on elasticsearch which i absolutely hate. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-10-16 13:32 Yeah, well, it's what my buddy who works in high availability enterprise hosting is using, that's why I gave it a try but really I think it's made for other scenarios than a homelab. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Olejka2k · 2023-10-16 13:32 Thanks for your reply, I've added all the volumes, rebuild the docker with all of them and still "no data". The weird thing is that it has access to notifications from Unraid, as I am receiving them there... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-10-16 13:33 Did you check the link I posted to the unRAID forum? I cannot help you much with unRAID specific configuration since I have absolutely zero knowledge about it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Olejka2k · 2023-10-16 13:41 Yeah I've checked that and tried those things - still not getting any data. I will try to install this on a separate VM in the cloud just to test. Thanks for your help anyway!
