Introducing SSLash: Your Ultimate Text and URL Saver! 馃殌 reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ishakg 路 2023-10-15 13:57 Hello everyone, I'm excited to introduce you to [SSLash](https://github.com/shakg/sslash), a super simple yet incredibly handy app for saving texts, URLs, and more. SSLash is a self-hosted side project that leverages the power of [Browser LocalStorage](https://developer.mozilla.org/en- US/docs/Web/API/Window/localStorage) to make your daily life a whole lot easier. With SSLash, you can effortlessly save URLs, text snippets, shell commands, and much more. When you need to access them, simply press `CTRL + SPACE` , and voil脿, SSLash springs into action. You can instantly search, copy, edit, or even open your saved items in the browser. Several of my coworkers and I rely on SSLash every day in our work, and it has been a game-changer. No more questions like, "**Where did we store that Excel file?**" or "**What was that command we used?**" Sure, there are alternatives out there for saving commands, links, and whatnot. But what sets SSLash apart is its sheer simplicity and efficiency. The best part? Even in its minimized form, you can start searching in a flash with just a quick `CTRL + SPACE` The idea for SSLash struck me when I stumbled upon the [OSlash](https://www.oslash.com/) app, which felt a bit too complex for my needs. I wanted something straightforward and easy to use. I'm passionate about taking SSLash to the next level by adding more functionality, and your feedback would be incredibly valuable in this journey. Ready to give it a spin? Check out SSLash on its GitHub repository and grab the Linux executable (AppImage) from the [releases page](https://github.com/shakg/sslash/releases). Let's make life simpler together! 馃槉 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- k_blubb 路 2023-10-15 15:30 So, its basicly small notes in the browser? How are those notes shared between people? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ishakg 路 2023-10-15 15:36 This is a desktop app but you can open saved links in browser. Users can share notes by exporting/importing. In future I want to add a central backend so users will join the app via auth and will be able to create teams etc. This way notes/texts will be automatically shared between team members ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Educational-Craft545 路 2023-10-15 16:54 Seems interesting. If you could show case it online, it would be more helpful. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ishakg 路 2023-10-15 17:20 Thank you for your comment, I鈥檒l add video showcase about how this app works. Will update here when its ready
