this way it is easier to get started by avoiding an "installation"
step. if you want to use it on a desktop, you only need to open it in
your dekstop browser. the data for storage is all from your local
device so a native desktop or mobile app doesnt add much advantage.

(there was a recent change to used indexedDB which will allow access
to a significant amount of storage (varies between browsers))
