nginx proxy in local network reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RNG_BackTrack · 2023-10-13 22:58 I have a truenas scale server with some apps in it, they all uses truenas ip with a different ports. Im using pfsense box as a dns server so I pointed test.loc to a pfsense ip and made a NAT rule to redirect lan address traffic to nginx ip port 8080. In nginx i have a host test.loc pointing to the correct ip and port. For some reason this setup isnt working. I have similar setup for my global dns with nat redirecting wan address to nginx ip port 8080 and its working like a charm, is there any special thing I need to do for a lan network? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-14 01:29 [You posted this twice](https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/1 77b4sd/ngnix_proxy_in_a_local_network/). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RNG_BackTrack · 2023-10-14 01:34 ty, I have deleted the duplicate. wp spez ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-14 01:37 See my edit. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RNG_BackTrack · 2023-10-14 02:10 That's really good advice regarding dns names, ill took in to that. The reason I have pointed dns name to pfsense is because I have to use nat to forward 80 port to the port that nginx is listening to. Truenas scale apps require to use specific port range ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-14 02:28 Okay, but my guess is that this is the reason why your proxy doesnt recognize which domain youre trying to reach.
