Virtualmin driving me crazy reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PTwolfy · 2023-10-13 22:12 Basically I have 4 websites that were working perfectly until a few days ago. One of my WordPress Multisites started showing the error "Error establishing a database connection" On one of the subsites. Then I tried to recover a older backup and *bam* the whole Multisite shows that error. Wherever I do, whatever backups I try to recover, it shows "Error establishing a database connection". It seems like a problem with Virtualmin or the Server itself rather than Wordpress. All the other 3 websites are working perfectly, just one is giving problems. I have Virtualmin behind a reverse proxy and Wireguard VPN. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BoobsThatArePooping · 2023-10-13 22:41 Did you make any recent password changes? I know it’s a pretty simple suggestion, but I’ve wasted my fair share of time chasing phantom issues that were cause by bad credentials. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PTwolfy · 2023-10-13 22:51 Thanks for the tip but, Nop, I didn't touch any credentials. In fact the Website was working today and suddenly stopped working after I tried to access one of the subsites. What really makes me crazy is the fact that recovering older virtual servers doesn't work at all. If it was working today, shouldn't it work if I recover a backup from a month ago? Geez... It makes me think it is actually some kind of connection or network problem inside Virtualmin between WordPress and the Database. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BoobsThatArePooping · 2023-10-13 22:56 Do you have adminer, phpmysql, or even pop open a shell and log into MySQL and make sure your DB is still there ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PTwolfy · 2023-10-13 23:12 I'll try that, going to check with phpmyadmin ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PTwolfy · 2023-10-13 23:25 I'm getting this error on Apache Logs: "[Fri Oct 13 23:14:22.456799 2023] [fcgid:warn] [pid 30979:tid 140268363822848] [client 10.0.1.1:52610] mod_fcgid: stderr: WordPress database error Table 'website00_web.80_blogs' doesn't exist for query SELECT 80_blogs.blog_id FROM 80_blogs WHERE domain IN ( 'www.website.com', 'wehsite.com' ) AND path = '/' ORDER BY CHAR_LENGTH(domain) DESC LIMIT 1 made by require_once('wp-load.php'), require_once('wp-config.php'), require_once('wp-settings.php'), require('wp-includes/ms-settings.php'), ms_load_current_site_and_network, get_site_by_path, get_sites, WP_Site_Query->query, WP_Site_Query->get_sites, WP_Site_Query->get_site_ids, referer: https://www.website.com/wp- admin/network/sites.php ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BoobsThatArePooping · 2023-10-14 01:21 I don’t know, but wehsite.com doesn’t look right unless you changed it before posting online and just made a typo ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PTwolfy · 2023-10-14 07:43 Yes, I just censored to post online ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BoobsThatArePooping · 2023-10-14 09:40 That Apache error seems fairly straightforward. It’s saying it can’t find a table in the DB. Did you get phpmyadmin to work so you could verify your DB is available? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PTwolfy · 2023-10-14 12:19 I did, the database is indeed there and it has missing tables. I wonder what could have provoked this, and how the website would be online for months. I'm now trying to recover even an older version of the virtual server. I seems to me that it doesn't matter how much backup recovers I do, those tables seem to be always missing. Weird and very problematic stuff. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- karsonzoltar · 2023-10-14 13:25 There is db , there is table. The mysqll account settings in wpconfig.php are incorrect.
