iCloud autobackup reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lankiness8244 · 2023-10-13 07:34 Hi guys, Do you know a docker container that download all files from the iCloud and remove additionally ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-13 07:38 Does the search function even exist? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Mean_Einstein · 2023-10-13 07:38 rclone has probably a backend for that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- finikwashere · 2023-10-13 07:48 Only if it can't be self hosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-13 08:20 No. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Kooky-Butterscotch88 · 2023-10-13 19:09 mandarons/icloud-drive ---------------------------------------------------------------------- netczar · 2023-10-14 06:04 Nice find! My issue is how to securely store credentials. Certainly don’t want them in a plain-text config file! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-14 06:37 Learn about Docker secrets then, or use a thirdparty tool to inject secrets into a container at startup. But plaintext config files are *really* a problem if you ensure that only the correct user can access them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- netczar · 2023-10-14 07:30 Docker Docs say “Docker secrets are only available to swarm services, not to standalone containers.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-14 07:53 Thats not entirely correct. You can absolutely use Docker secrets without setting your Docker host into swarm mode. The difference afaik is in swarm mode the secrets are stored encrypted at rest, and without swarm mode they are stored plaintext. And even if you set your host into swarm mode, that doesnt stop you from deploying standalone containers, a swarm host can deploy swarms and standalones. https://docs.docker.com/engine/swarm/secrets/ https://docs.docker.com/compose/use-secrets/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- netczar · 2023-10-14 08:01 I’m using Container Manager on Synology DSM so don’t think I can use Swarm Mode. If secrets are otherwise stored unencrypted then pointless anyway. The other option you mentioned was a third party solution - would you mind suggesting one? Thanks 👍🏼 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-14 08:04 Check my edit from just now ---------------------------------------------------------------------- netczar · 2023-10-14 08:14 Thanks 🙏 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Kooky-Butterscotch88 · 2023-10-14 15:42 \^\^ this Bitwarden or Valutwarden (a fork of Bitwarden) Last i looked Bitwarden has a self-hosted option (free). just don't get some of the extra features. but if you are only using or self- hosting solutions then those extra features don't matter much. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-14 19:39 We are not talking about password managers tho.
