Local server on PC isn't accessible on phone reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rotsntqti · 2023-10-12 12:19 I'd like to set up a local caldev server (possibly using Radicale) on my computer to sync calendar and tasks to/from my Android device. I set up the server on my PC (localhost:5232) and can access it on different browsers, but I can't seem to connect to it on my phone. I thought it was because they weren't in the same LAN but the 2 devices do see each other in sharedrop.io. I live on campus in college, so I don't have a lot of control over the network. What can I do here? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- shadoodled · 2023-10-12 12:51 `localhost` is the device where you are typing that address on. If you browse it on your computer, it will load because it is hosted on it. If you browse localhost on your phone, your phone is localhost. What you should be looking for if your computer's LAN IP - something like 192.x.x.x ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rotsntqti · 2023-10-14 13:30 That's not the issue unfortunately. Even If I replace localhost with my local IP address, which starts with 10 by the way, I can't connect to Radicale. This is true even on my PC. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- shadoodled · 2023-10-14 13:46 Then it looks like your Radicale is configured to bind to `localhost:5232` or `127.0.0.1:5232`. It should be `0.0.0.0:5232`. Check the Radicale docs on where to change this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rotsntqti · 2023-10-14 15:51 It turns out you're right, I can now access the server on my PC using my local IP address. I still can't connect to the server from any other device, however. This is probably where I need to do or check something to see if I really can connect to it on a college network. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rotsntqti · 2023-10-14 16:05 Well I just tested it and Syncthing works fine. Radicale should too, then.
