Converting data in Google Sheet into a database reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- alqaisi95 · 2023-10-12 07:07 Hello everyone, I have data in Google Sheet that I would like to convert to a database without changing its format This sheet is used as a reference to be searched for id Only related fields appear in this ID Note that I do not have programming experience, but I can use artificial intelligence to generate codes, and I also use N8N To add this data from different sheets to the main sheet, is there a way to help me convert this data into search interfaces? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NikStalwart · 2023-10-12 07:26 Depends on which databases. First thing that comes to mind: * Export sheet as CSV * Import CSV into sqlite3/mongo * ??? * Profit > Search Have you tried the Data -> Filter options in Google Sheets? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- alqaisi95 · 2023-10-12 08:00 The sheet is automatically updated from other sheets via N8N So I want to make it available for other people to search this data without seeing it in full by providing an interface that uses Google Sheet data. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NikStalwart · 2023-10-12 08:02 That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works. How do you think database will help you? How will you implement front- end? Why not just use Google Apps Script? Anyway, this is getting beyond the scope of /r/selfhosted  —  try maybe /r/webdev, /r/programming or related subs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- radix- · 2023-10-12 12:14 Use Airtable. They provide a no code way to do exactly what you're looking for with easy future extensibility and nice UX and lots of zapier integrations ---------------------------------------------------------------------- justinhunt1223 · 2023-10-13 01:49 Seems like a database is not what you want. Why not just make a simple search with index/match if you are only looking up based on ID? If you export it to a database, you will have to do that again for every update
