Organizing a huge library reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AntonioKarot · 2023-10-11 09:31 I have an extensive library of **ebooks** and **videos** for a specific field of interest and would like to organize it. This library consists of a parent directory, which has a lot of subdirectories. Each subdirectory is for a performer, example : parent_dir/performer1/document.pdf parent_dir/performer1/document2.pdf parent_dir/performer1/project/document3.pdf parent_dir/performer1/project2/document.mp4 parent_dir/performer2/project/document.mp4 parent_dir/performer2/document2.mkv parent_dir/performer3/document.pdf . . . I would like a software that can : * have **a view by performer** and link every document (ebook or video) to it automatically * have **a view of all the performers**, with a picture of them (I find it way nicer and faster to find people this way, especially when you forgot their name) * **search** in the whole library for keywords in the document titles (and better if possible to search in the documents themselves, in PDFs for example) * **add tags** to documents to better sort them (maybe also tags to performers, but the tags per document are more important) * have **a view with all the tags** and also if possible with a picture for each tag * **be ran on a server and accessed remotely** (web interface or something like that) The fact that it could "understand" this folder structure and automatically arrange the database properly would be a huge +. Also, I think this structure is kind of a well spread way of organizing content. So my question is : does any of you know a software that can do this ? I found out about [accesstomemory](https://www.accesstomemory.org/en/) but I'm not sure if it will be able to sort my library based on the folder structure out of the box. Also, there may be better options for my use case out there. Also, something that comes pretty close to what I want to do is [stash](https://github.com/stashapp/stash). However, it doesn't handle ebooks, and my library is not nsfw and shouldn't rely on an external database (as no external database for my field of interest exists afaik). But stash ticks almost all the requirements. After having a look at the [awesome-selfhosted repo](https://github.com/awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted), I couldn't find something that comes closer (from what I understood). So please tell me if you know something that would fit this need ! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TimeYaddah · 2023-10-11 11:09 Not exactly what you're looking for here, but take a look at whisparr to extend your collection ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AntonioKarot · 2023-10-11 11:57 My library is not made of adult content ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TimeYaddah · 2023-10-11 12:04 Oh, I thought because of stash being used for adult content... I just see you even mentioned it's not nsfw
