OwnCoudIS+webdav vs Filestash+samba reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- phin586 · 2023-10-10 17:37 Hello, Topic explains it all. Looking to replace my nextcloud solution for a bunch of linux clients. A web interface is a "nice to have" but not required. I am fine with mounting to the clients either with webdav or with samba as i am aware that the virtual filesystem features of ownclouds client (and nextclouds) does not seem to work well under linux. Features I desire: Native filesystem support for backup and restores. I run ZFS+snapshots and offsite backups. I know under filestash this is a non issue. However with nextcloud it took some finessing with the occ command to get files to show up. Is this an issue with owncloud still? I wouldnt mind having native access to the filesystem to allow files to be written to it and for it to show up in owncloud without having to do a file rescan. However, i would be willing to work with some sort of "rescan on new files" feature. Right click link share support. I know this could be tricky without the native app. One could write a script though that utilizes either filestashs or ocis api to achieve this with a nautilus script. Works well with immich? I have decided on immich.. (who hasn't) i wouldnt mind something that will not muck around to much with how that operates but still allow access to the files it manages for sharing. I cant think of any other reasons, but if anyone has any.. I would love to hear them!
