Fasten Health - Open Source Personal Health Record - Oct Update reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-10-10 10:35 Hey reddit! [Fasten Health v0.1.7 has been released!](https://github.com/fastenhealth/fasten-onprem) Just a refresher: [more than a year ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/self hosted/comments/xj9rx7/introducing_fasten_a_selfhosted_personal/) I announced **Fasten Health, an open-source, self-hosted, personal/family electronic medical record aggregator (PHR), designed to integrate with 100,000's of insurances/hospitals & clinics** - Self-hosted - Designed for families, not Clinics (unlike OpenEMR and other popular EMR systems) - Supports the Medical industry's (semi-standard) FHIR protocol - Uses OAuth2 (Smart-on-FHIR) authentication (no passwords necessary) - Uses OAuth's `offline_access` scope (where possible) to automatically pull changes/updates - Multi-user support for household/family use - Dashboards & tracking for diagnostic tests - Patient friendly explanations of medical procedures, medications and lab tests. - (Future) Vaccination & condition specific recommendations using NIH/WHO clinical care guidelines (HEDIS/CQL) - (Future) ChatGPT-style interface to query your own medical history (offline) - (Future) Integration with smart-devices & wearables Here's a couple of screenshots that'll remind you what it looks like: [Fasten Screenshots](https://imgur.com/a/vfgojBD) --- We've made a number of changes since our [last update in August](https ://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/165cpu4/fasten_health_open_sou rce_personal_health_record/): - **Lab Report Enhancements:** Lab tests are now sorted by most recent, and can be filtered by Test Panels (Diagnostic Reports). We've also enabled pagination to ensure the page feels responsive even with 1000s of test results. - **Healthcare Network Searchability:** Now that Fasten supports 25,000+ healthcare institutions, discoverability is incredibly important. It was difficult to search for providers because Fasten required an exact match before displaying institutions. That's now been fixed, and you can also search against aliases & tags (*addresses coming soon*). If you've got some free time, consider contributing by adding homepages, aliases & logos for healthcare institutions in our [Google Drive sheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZSgwfd7kw xSnimk4yofIFcR8ZMUls0zi9SZpRiOJBx0/edit#gid=1410302844) - **Background Processing & Scheduling:** We added support for background processing, meaning that you can visit another website or close your browser and your record sync will continue in the background (and we added a new page showing you which [background jobs are still running](https://imgur.com/CEyEmH6)). We'll be leveraging this functionality to add scheduled tasks to sync providers on a daily/weekly/etc basis (*coming soon*) - [**Lifetime License Initiative:**](https://docs.fastenhealth.com/FUNDRAISING.html) License sales weren't as dramatic as I'd hoped -- However I'm incredibly grateful to those of you who took a chance and decided to support us, we're getting a steady stream of purchases. If you're interested in supporting Fasten Health, you can still purchase a license using the following link. Once all 500 lifetime licenses are gone, the link will automatically deactivate. - [Fasten Self-Hosted Lifetime License - $200](https://buy.stripe.com/fZe00deiUexS58Y4gg) Thanks for being a part of the Fasten Health journey. Your support has been incredibly humbling and keeps me moving forward! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-10-10 14:10 I'm around and happy to answer any questions about Fasten, our Fundraising initiatives, our Desktop apps or anything else :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- endo · 2023-10-10 14:20 So this will go out and take all your login information and log into portals to download all your medical records so that you can see them in a way that is helpful to you and it's also self-hosted? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-10-10 14:26 not quite, Fasten doesn't store your patient portal login information (username + password), instead it use the same mechanism that those login with Facebook/Google buttons do - OAuth. When you login to your patient portal, you can decide which parts of the medical record you'd like to share with Fasten, and it generates a new OAuth token which works like an app-specific password that the self-hosted app can use to retrieve your records. But yes, once you connect to all your practitioners and download all your records, you now have a self-hosted copy of your medical records all in one place, allowing you to see how your lab results/conditions have changed over time, even if you've had different insurers & visited different clinics. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- endo · 2023-10-10 14:43 Soon as I get back from my trip, I am definitely going to start looking into installing this. This sounds awesome. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thrivewithdot · 2023-10-10 16:50 Wow, this is INCREDIBLE. Do you have a website? How will non-techies (like me!) be able to figure out how to use this? How do we request our info from our wellness providers? Is there a guide on how to self host? Do you have a goal for this to become a business or is it just a hobby to help others? I'd love to connect further if this is too much! (I'm new to reddit so I'm figuring out....everything haha) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- starbuck93 · 2023-10-10 19:14 Just installed and set up for the first time. I'm using unRAID / docker. It was easy to find in the unRAID community apps. I didn't get the volume mapping on the first try so I lost progress when I restarted the container to join it to my cloudflare tunnels docker network. Then I mapped the database and config, so we're good now, but that should definitely be added to the community app config. I see a lot of features are coming soon, that's good. I started with no imported data, and attempted to add something manually, but failed. Then I imported a lot of data from "epic" compatible sources, which worked on the first try, that was awesome. But it's all jumbled up. I wish I could edit the data so it made more sense. For example, under Conditions, I have one called "Unassigned" that has like every doctor or nurse I've ever seen and notes from the past 6 years from every random thing I've been to a doctor for. But I don't see how to split that data up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-10-10 23:15 > It was easy to find in the unRAID community apps. I didn't know that someone had created an unRaid configuration for Fasten, can you send me a link? > I started with no imported data, and attempted to add something manually, but failed. I made a number of changes to the DB schema, which would explain why manual condition creation is broken. I'm working on it. > I wish I could edit the data so it made more sense. For example, under Conditions, I have one called "Unassigned" There is an editor that allows you to reorganize your conditions/records, but I disabled it when I changed the DB schema. This is also a WIP. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- starbuck93 · 2023-10-10 23:24 Someone named "IBRACORP" is hosting the community app. But all the links go back to your GitHub except the Discord which leads to the ibracorp discord group. It was added Aug 30 2023. https://unraid.net/community/apps?q=Fasten#r is what you can see without installing unRAID / community apps. Got it! Thanks for replying. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tonicgoofy · 2023-10-12 01:12 Any plans to add support for oauth2 or other similar protocols for local users? Been using authentik to manage my users for almost all my services and it's great. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-10-12 04:03 Hey! Yes, we're tracking this in 2 somewhat related issues: - https://github.com/fastenhealth/fasten-onprem/issues/44 - https://github.com/fastenhealth/fasten-onprem/issues/57 To be honest though, there's alot of other things that we're working on at the moment, it might be a while before we implement external- auth. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mpopgun · 2023-10-23 03:08 IBRACORP is great, you can find his YouTube channel. Tons of instructional videos where he walks you through installing self hosted applications. How to expose them for remote access securely, etc, etc.
