Self hosted photo viewing solution for Truenas scale

I need a self hosted photo/media viewer that I can install on Truenas
scale. It needs to be something that can support multiple
timelines/environments as I have multiple people backing up to this
storage nas. I'm not opposed to using something like
nextcloud/memories but here's the thing, I cannot find a sane guide
that can actually guide me step by step from having nothing to it
fully working. The closest I was able to get after a lot of hair
pulling was having Nextcloud installed but it was only indexing 10
files and showing me absolutely no media on my dataset. Please send
help as I am tired of struggling with poorly crafted documentation and
terrible out of the box experiences.
