Trying Emby to replace plex - unsure if notifications reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- YankeesIT · 2023-10-09 14:50 I have been using Plex for many years. Lately I have had some issues with it plus I’m getting tired of all the garbage they are including. Decided to give Emby a try. After a week or two I bought a lifetime subscription. It’s been much better. One issue I have is it appears it does not have built in notifications. I know there’s a notifications setting but seems like you need to use a plugin for that to work I liked how Plex would notify me when a new movie or show episode was added, or when my kids would start a show, or when my parents were watching a movie. I can’t seem to figure that out in Emby. Help! Thank you ---------------------------------------------------------------------- botterway · 2023-10-09 14:54 Did you try Jellyfin before paying for Emby? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- YankeesIT · 2023-10-09 14:55 Yes, I find the Emby apps for iOS, Roku and Apple TV to be better. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-09 15:33 /r/Emby? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AngelGrade · 2023-10-09 16:44 what garbage has been including Plex? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Firestarter321 · 2023-10-09 16:46 All of the stupid streaming TV/Movie crap they’ve been adding for one. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- YankeesIT · 2023-10-09 18:20 This ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zopy4949 · 2023-10-10 00:03 Agreed, this is why I chose emby as well ---------------------------------------------------------------------- voidsyourwarranties · 2023-10-10 13:39 [https://emby.media/support/articles/Webhooks.html](https://emby.media /support/articles/Webhooks.html) Emby has webhook integration for things like stop, start, play, and more, so I would look here first.
