Payload (app framework + CMS in TypeScript) releases 2.0 reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sneek_ · 2023-10-09 14:00 Hey /r/selfhosted, James from Payload here. We're a self hosted, MIT-licensed CMS / app framework built all in TypeScript. We just launched 2.0 and with it comes: * Postgres support * Live preview * A move from Webpack -> Vite * A new rich text editor on Lexical * Image cropping / focal point selection * Database migrations * Database transactions * Lots more performance improvements / fixes I would love to know what you think. If you're self hosting a CMS, Payload might be right up your alley. I wrote up some background on what's changed here: [https://payloadcms.com/blog/payload-2- 0](https://payloadcms.com/blog/payload-2-0) Stop by the GitHub repo and check us out! I'd love to keep my eyes on it but I have two features that don't quite seem to be supported except with plugins that haven't been updated in a while? I'd love to see OIDC as a first-party feature or plugin, or at least LDAP, and S3 storage is a must have for containerized environments IMO because dealing with volumes on Kubernetes when you might have multiple pods isn't ideal. I'm aware of the cloud storage provider plugin but recall running into some issues last time I used it? What's the status on that? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sneek_ · 2023-10-10 14:02 The cloud storage plugin works with S3 beautifully! It's VERY popular and should work for you with minimal effort. As far as OIDC, you can do this now with Payload on your own but as far as a first-party plugin, right now it is enterprise-only. It's possible this will change in the near future though..... :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dan6erbond2 · 2023-10-10 16:42 Haha I understand, okay! I'll give it another look and see if I can get the S3 plugin working. Regarding OIDC, are there any write-ups? I don't quite get how the Express/Passport middleware interacts with Payload's auth collections and have always ran into small issues trying to extend it.
