A little selfhosted forum reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grgl0088 · 2023-10-08 18:39 Hello! I wanna host a little forum for my small site. Do anyone know a easy-install selfhosted forum? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-08 18:49 Discourse? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grgl0088 · 2023-10-08 18:52 >Discourse I will try thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MikeSpecter · 2023-10-08 19:06 I will always recommend Discourse (even for personal note instances, do it!). Installation can be easy if you have some knowledge (u're on r/selfhosted so, I'm gonna assume you have) - but the codebase is Ruby on Rails mostly. There are some alternatives: Flarum, that's just php or Forem, might be worth to look at - but the latter most complex in terms of install and might not be a traditional forum depending on the functionality you need. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2023-10-08 20:18 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-08 20:34 You can simply look at the subreddit sidebar, find the [awesome selfhosted list](https://github.com/Kickball/awesome-selfhosted) and look through that, and you will find a lot of forum software to selfhost. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NikStalwart · 2023-10-09 00:49 Lots of forums: Discourse (as suggested) and the venerable phpbb and vBulletins of this world. But, alas, most forum UIs aren't very customizable.
