Summarize Audio Recording of a Meeting reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- magneticf · 2023-10-08 16:43 Is there anything selfhosted that can take an audio recording of a meeting, and summarize it into a written bullet points? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- borouhin · 2023-10-08 17:14 [https://huggingface.co/models](https://huggingface.co/models) \- select one model for audio recognition (Whisper works great) and another for summarization (cannot recommend anything particular for your usage case, things change rapidly, you may try and feed your transcripts to different models online to determine the best one). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-08 17:17 Just a heads up that recording a meeting without consent of everyone that it is being recorded is illegal in most countries. Make sure you adhere to that before you record and then transcribe recordings. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LordPickels · 2023-10-08 18:08 Not sure what country you're in, but that's a pretty broad statement that most countries need everyone's consent. Canada for example is one-party consent. The US has some states that require everyone's consent, but there's a decent list of states that are one-party consent as well - Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming all require only 1 party in the conversation to know it's being recorded. Sure there are quite a few countries that require everyone's consent, but there are also quite a lot that are one-party, and many that vary even within the country like the US. I'd recommend checking with laws in the state/province/country where you live, not just assume you can't do it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-08 18:19 You named one country and a few states of a another country. So two in total. Pretty sure all of EU, which is already 25 countries more than you named, forbids this due to GDPR and DSGVO. But sure, I'm the problem by telling people to be careful if and what they record. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- magneticf · 2023-10-08 18:35 Thank you for the concern, but this is not an issue. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-08 18:37 Glad to hear. What country are you from?
