Docker hub on my own Ubuntu server reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- onlyonlz · 2023-10-08 07:36 I would like to self-host my docker images without using Docker hub. Is there something I can instal on Hetzner's Ubuntu machines that would work like that? It's for my personal usage so I don't need anything crazy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zoredache · 2023-10-08 07:38 - https://hub.docker.com/_/registry - https://docs.docker.com/registry/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- onlyonlz · 2023-10-08 07:43 Thanks, will read those. Does, by any chance, GitLab Community Edition support such self-hosted "registry"? It would be ideal if just by installing GitLab on Hetzner (and setting it up correctly) I would be able to use its registry without installing another software on that server just for this. Is that possible? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zoredache · 2023-10-08 07:48 No idea about gitlab, I use gitea. Gitea recently added a registry. https://docs.gitea.com/usage/packages/container ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Disastrous_Elk_6375 · 2023-10-08 08:52 https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/packages/container_registry/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- onlyonlz · 2023-10-08 09:38 So, it seems to be possible, thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- onlyonlz · 2023-10-08 09:38 Thanks, good to know that Gitea can do it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ben-ba · 2023-10-08 13:54 Quay ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iavael · 2023-10-08 16:11 Gitlab uses docker registry to store and serve images. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- therealblownie · 2023-10-08 20:01 You can also try Harbor https://github.com/goharbor/harbor which is an open source container registry maintained by VMware. It requires docker and docker-compose. It is a full featured docker image registry so maybe overkill for your needs but it seems easy to install. Could be the way to go if you want something to work quickly as it is well documented and supported. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- onlyonlz · 2023-10-08 20:12 it's paid. And quite a lot ;( ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ben-ba · 2023-10-09 21:11 Not really, https://www.projectquay.io/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ben-ba · 2023-10-09 21:19 Nexus ---------------------------------------------------------------------- therealblownie · 2023-10-10 12:23 Quay is also open source and backed RedHat. Looking at the documentation it is not so easy to install. Requires Postgres, Redis etc. to be configured. Overkill in my opinion for home use.
