I'm using owntracks with mosquitto Matt to colect my device(s)
locations.
Ii can view my location history as points (dots) or tracks from any
given date or period on a web interface.
I'm happy with it.
What I miss is the google timeline.
With it you get location names (places) in order.
Not only that you can select any place and view when you visited.
So
Is there any open source software,  selfhosted preferably that can to
geocoding from the owntracks .json files?

You could simply search for "location" in the *awesome* selfhosted
list from the subreddit sidebar.

The best options I've found is Traccar.

Call it off boys!!
Make sure somebody calls CEO Steve Huffman , and tell him Reddit can
be shut down safely now.
We can all now use an awesome Google search, shut it all down boys.
Even better shut the Google down, and go straight to source and only
ever use GitHub for any information
