AI tool to analyze Camera contents reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cfurini · 2023-10-07 15:07 I am looking for a self-hosted AI tool that is able to analyze the content of my cameras. I have four cameras and I would like the AI tool to be able to recognize who is there in the image and what they are doing (use cases below). Additionally, I would like it to be able to log the event so it can be analyzed by another AI tool. Any recommendations? Use cases: A) Identify that a family member moved from one door to another, what means she is arriving at home. B) Identify that an unknown person has moved from one door to another, what means an unknown person arrived at home. C) Identify that a family member has arrived with two friends and an unknown person. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Murky-Sector · 2023-10-07 15:15 frigate ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cfurini · 2023-10-07 15:54 I feel like I will need to buy a specific hardware to run it. Any alternative that can be hosted in a Windows VM or so? If not, what would be the ideal hardware? Smooth install an operation? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- redwoodglacier · 2023-10-07 17:20 Blueiris is probably something that might fit your needs if you’re willing to run a Windows VM. I evaluated it many months ago and it’s possible to have ML functionality. It seemed very capable for sure however, I was a bit turned off by the old looking user interface and also having to run it on a Windows VM rather than in a docker container. But many say it’s one of the best if not the best monitoring solution. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Murky-Sector · 2023-10-07 20:00 Based on your very specific requirements not only will you probably need dedicated hardware youll need multi stream camera(s) run over gig ethernet, not wifi. If you just want simple object detection then sure, you can get by using some spare capacity in an existing setup. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- operator207 · 2023-10-08 00:28 Not any longer. I used to run frigate with a coral and Lat 748- laptop, but now just the laptop. 7th gen intel chip and an iGPU. 11 2k cameras and 1 1080p camera. https://github.com/blakeblackshear/frigate/discussions/5742 https://docs.frigate.video/configuration/detectors/#openvino-detector Same load averages without the coral as with it before the change over. So far so good. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- operator207 · 2023-10-08 00:32 Not any longer. The specific hardware matters but for guesstimating, if using processor only, it'll use upwards of 50% of a four core system. I switched to a GTX 750 and it uses about 125 MB of VRAM and almost no processing (CPU is still around 15%). It runs yolo under the hood. You can retrain it for a specific person but it takes a lot of images. It will not detect a new example of a class (like an unknown person) and then automatically detect when that example is redetected. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ButCaptainThatsMYRum · 2023-10-08 04:01 BlueIris +code project.ai has been fun to play with. I've also set up frigate multiple times on multiple environments and invested a lot of time going through their documentation, it's never worked correctly or reliably so ymmv with those suggestions.
