File Browser with STL support? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xer0-1ne · 2023-10-07 15:04 Are there any good self-hosted file manager / file browsers that provide a way to view various file types within the browser? I know a lot of these tools feature the ability to view images, videos and certain document types... but I am looking for stl support as well. Most of the ones I have seen don't have support for stl or other files. (just in case there is a gem out there... i am looking for png, jpg, mp3, wav, stl, pdf, and txt). Thanks in advance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Educational-Craft545 · 2023-10-07 17:54 https://github.com/Floppy/van\_dam ---------------------------------------------------------------------- amcco1 · 2023-10-07 19:27 I don't know if nextcloud has it by default or not. But there is probably a plugin for it. Nextcloud has plugins for all kinds of things. I used to have a plugin for .raw images. But it does all the other file types you listed by default. Stl I'm not sure tho ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xer0-1ne · 2023-10-08 21:52 Yeah, I am trying to avoid using NextCloud as it has tons of bloat and it very resource intense. Plus, it has tons of features that I don't need. I am just looking for a file manager or digital asset management tool. Something similar to Google Drive. I saw that FileRun was a viable option, but it's $100 now. That is a bit intense, but if I have to jump for a tool that works, then I guess I will have to go for it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- amcco1 · 2023-10-08 21:59 People always say nextcloud has tons of bloat, and all that means is that you've never tried it, or never looked at the settings. Everything, and I mean everything, can be disabled in it. Don't want to dashboard? Disable it. Don't want the notes feature? Disable it. Don't want file storage? Disable it. Don't get me wrong. Nextcloud has its issues. Sometimes it can be slow, but alot of that depends on the hardware you run it on. If it's on a HDD and some ancient cpu, expect it to not be speedy. But overall, it is a very good product and definitely isn't bloated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- xer0-1ne · 2023-10-08 23:17 I've used it a few times, not for file management, but I have used it for many other things. I think on of the issues I had last time is that when it crashed on me, all of the files I had in it were jumbled up, things were missing, and I had to repair the database which eventually caused more issues than it was worth. I am going to give it a shot again, but I think I am going for the stable release, and I am going to see what all I can disable. I will say that, even if you can disable everything, it's resource usage is still excessive, and regardless of what you can disable, it's still really bloated.
