Is there a comic book web viewer that supports raw images? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MUOAA · 2023-10-06 14:58 Originally, I was working on a project called Kavita, but the developer is considering deleting the original image support. I'm looking for an alternative to this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- simpleFr4nk · 2023-10-06 15:38 This is how I started, using Kavita to read comic books through raw images, but after some times and the tedious tasks to add metadata, I moved to .cbz archive with a ComicInfo.xml inside to make it way easier. So at the end I’m not using Kavita, for other reasons, but I think it’s more beneficial on the long run if you look into comic metadata and cbz archives (just a .zip file renamed to .cbz with the images inside). There’re many different application or docker services that can help you manage and edit them easily, but I don’t use neither and have my scripts for that ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MUOAA · 2023-10-06 15:41 I have a huge amount of images and also multiple scripts that check it every time, so I have difficulty compressing and solving them every time with cbz. I don't know if there's a script that tricks folders into cbz, but this is kind of hard ---------------------------------------------------------------------- simpleFr4nk · 2023-10-06 15:45 Make sense that you wake to stick with that, sadly all the services I know (Komga, Atsumeru and Mango) use compressed archive, PDFs or ePub, so I cannot be more helpful ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MUOAA · 2023-10-06 15:53 That's why I'm sadly looking for a platform that supports raw images. Basically, if you compress it to cbz or zip, multiple scripts can't check what's inside, so you're forced to look for a raw image support platform ---------------------------------------------------------------------- remghoost7 · 2023-10-06 18:20 [Yacreader](https://www.yacreader.com/) works well with raw files (if you're talking about loose jpg/png files). I have a few comics in a zip and it works great. It's a bit jank with .cbr/.epub files though. They scale oddly if you open them directly (instead of with the companion library program). [Source code is here too](https://github.com/YACReader/yacreader) if you're into that. I've only used it once or twice, so I can't give a good review of it. It was just the program that I settled on when trying to open a comic I found online. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MUOAA · 2023-10-06 18:25 This is quite interesting
