Need help with NFS to containers reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RiffyDivine2 · 2023-10-06 12:51 Morning everyone, wasn't sure if I should put this here or just in linux. But anyway I am trying to share folders from my truenas scale vm to my portainer vm without any success. Does anyone have information on how to do this or a write up? When I tried it with -vv to see what was going on it kept looking like it was not authorized. So does the uid and gid need to match both the portainer/ubuntu vm and be a user on the truenas that has access to the files or is there more to it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hilleo64 · 2023-10-06 13:23 This could help you. https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/14tzaip/paperlessngx_cons ume_folder_on_nas/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-06 13:57 Here try [this](https://github.com/11notes/alpine-docker-netshare) NFS plugin for docker. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RiffyDivine2 · 2023-10-06 14:52 Thanks. I did manage to get it to connect I think...anyway it changed the folder from root/root to the user who is the owner on the truenas which isn't a user on the docker machine so it just says user 568/568 which is apps on truenas. May just try chmod and see what happens if I set it back to myself. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-06 15:52 UID/GID have to match. If your container runs as 1000:1000 it has to be 1000:1000 on TrueNAS too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RiffyDivine2 · 2023-10-06 16:11 I was wondering about that but I set the mapall user to apps who owns that share data set and also did mapall group to a group I made for NFS sharing and it connected fine and I can read and write files without issue. Now I am just trying to work out the whole process that made it work so I can repeat it. On a sidenote can you set a share to map on boot in the fstab?
