Need help hiding the IP address of my VPS proxy server using Cloudfare reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Shady6116 · 2023-10-06 10:42 Fairly new to the networking and the like. I need to setup a VPS proxy server to access the internet, while using a CDN like cloudfare to hide the ip address of the VPS(Basically bypassing ISP IP blocking). The end result should be something like this My PC —> VPS —> DNS —> Cloudfare —> The Internet How can I get this done? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-06 10:49 Ask /r/Cloudflare? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zarlo5899 · 2023-10-06 10:55 you will need to use a Cloudflare Tunnel ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Oblec · 2023-10-06 10:57 DNS isn't everything, thats just domain names. It sound to me you are looking for a vpn. Something like wireguard or openvpn on your vps should route all your traffic to that vps... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Shady6116 · 2023-10-06 11:00 But will that effectively hide the ip of my VPS? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tomistruth · 2023-10-06 11:05 Your question is how can I hide my IP. There are mutilple ways but the sane solution would be by using a VPN like Mullvad that do not have IP logs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Oblec · 2023-10-06 11:12 This would only hide you ip from your pc. The ip that the vps have will be public. You could even have the vps route all your traffic to another vpn. But that's a bit silly. Use Tor by that point ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HoytAvila · 2023-10-06 12:29 If your end goal is to bypass ISP from blocking specific IPs or bypassing someone who blocked your IP then my friend you basically want a VPN. If you can edit the post to make your goal more clear it would be easier to help ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Shady6116 · 2023-10-06 13:00 I edited it but basically the IP of the VPS service I use is blocked by my ISP, so I can’t seem to route traffic through it, so my theory is if I can hide the IP of my VPS behind something like Cloudfare, I should be able to connect to the internet and route traffic successfully ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HoytAvila · 2023-10-06 15:11 I have no idea what technology are you using to “route” traffic through your VPS. But you could basically create another instance and route traffic through it to your VPS with your existing solution. Or just setup a VPN in a new instance and then you can use the local ip of that VPS in the VPN in whatever proxy you are using. Or basically just move the instance to another provider or change its public ip, far easier than the cloudflare thing.
