Easiest Multi-host Replication Docker Container Solution? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NateroniPizza ยท 2023-10-05 15:26 Hello, all, Note: The HA aspect of this is all for the "warm fuzzies" that my stuff will always be up, and for the fun of having redundant, reliable infrastructure in my home. This is not a production environment that anyone else uses. I've got K3s with Traefik set up on my 3 Proxmox nodes with a couple of containers in them. It's cool and all, but holy crap is it a PITA to manage... not to mention the constant fear that anything could break (given the extreme difficulty in figuring out how to get it working, and getting past all the issues when setting up, I have 0 confidence in it ever working again if an update breaks it). Also, with as infrequently as I go in there, I forget how to set stuff up each time given it's mostly commandline and config files. I've currently got Portainer set up on one node with automatic replication and HA at the Proxmox cluster level. However, I've run into occasional issues with VMs not failing over properly in the past (mostly from stuff that I've broken, but still would rather not rely on it if I don't have to). I just found HAProxy with a nice GUI in OPNsense (sure, a single point of failure, but if my router is down I've got bigger problems), so realized load balancing/failover-capable proxy is a real possibility without having to wade into config files every time I want to tweak anything, so am looking into ways to utilize this if possible. **My question:** What is the easiest way, without shared storage, to replicate docker containers and their configuration changes between multiple docker hosts? (very ideally under Portainer, or some other piece of software with a pretty, easy-to-manage GUI) Example: If I make a change to the item list in Heimdall or the DNS settings on PiHole, I would like for those settings to be immediately synced out to the containers running on the other Docker hosts. Thank you
