I'm afraid of a battery fire on ideapad 100-15IBY reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RayanGosling · 2023-10-05 08:33 My old ideapad 100-15IBY laptop is installed in the closet, there is no ventilation. It runs Ubuntu server, Torrserver, Jacket and OpenVPN. When streaming 4K HDR content, the processor temperature does not rise above 60 Celsius. But I'm worried about the battery since the laptop is connected to a 220 network and works 24/7. Should I? If so, how can I disconnect the battery, preferably in software… without disassembling the case? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Janpeterbalkellende · 2023-10-05 08:44 You can just open the bottom of the laptop and remove the battery connector cable if it worries you to much ---------------------------------------------------------------------- EspritFort · 2023-10-05 09:01 >My old ideapad 100-15IBY laptop is installed in the closet, there is no ventilation. You can absolutely disconnect it physically though - is there any particular reason why you do not wish to open the case? Computers should be cleaned from time to time anyway, so you can catch two birds with one stone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Im1Random · 2023-10-05 09:10 I would open it and pull out the battery connector ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-05 10:10 selfhosted... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- selfhosted-ModTeam · 2023-10-05 17:23 This post is being removed due to the subject not being related to the "selfhosted" theme of the community.
